Hello, fam! My name is Joe Rogers and I am running for Publicity and Communications Officer. I joined Backstage at the start of the academic year, and I am looking forward to having the opportunity to give back to the community.

I think it is important that our social media presence retains the professional and approachable look set by previous publicity officers. As it is the first impression of us that most get, including prospective members and societies that plan to work with us, it is a very important part of our brand. I will keep the social media channels active, and respond promptly to any questions posed to me. I am also experienced in graphic design and will use these skills to ensure that our social media channels look the best that they can.

A change in the social media that would be beneficial is to add more photos from each production to our Instagram account. As many of our experienced designers are looking to pursue a career in a similar field, it would be helpful to upload photos that can be used for peoples’ personal portfolios. Furthermore, it would help to make us more approachable as a society- having more photos would make it clearer what we actually do for our productions, and as a result, more potential members may be interested.

Another addition that would be helpful to new members and aspiring designers would be to make clear and accessible documents which go through their responsibilities in certain roles in detail. Although there are brief descriptions on the website of each role, for larger ones such as designers, this is not enough guidance. These documents should be written by experienced designers in their respective roles, and use easy-to-understand language in order to be accessible to even very new members.

In conclusion, I hope that my plans give you faith that I can provide what the society needs as a new Publicity and Communications officer. I would love to serve the Backstage community to the best of my ability and hope I can help to be a part of a committee that works for all of Backstage.

Hey everyone, its Asher ! I am re-running for Publicity & Communications Secretary. Since April 2022, Backstage Society’s instagram followers has increased by 240 followers. Our mailing list subscribers have also doubled from around 80 to 160! IKR the growth!

If I’m re-elected as Publicity and Communications Secretary, I would like to revive our backstage youtube account as promised. We can do some short show vlogs to record the amazing work we will be doing for all of our shows! I would love to have more time to accomplish everything that I’ve set out to achieve. We can further encourage designers to do instagram takeovers such as the one Shelley (PM of Company) did. We can also create some short and simple training videos from each department and upload them on Youtube. I’d like to use more platforms provided by our LUU so we can try to get shortlisted for Best Publicity in Riley’s for the very first time!

This year has been a great year for publicity and I’d love to try to do better next year. If I get re-elected, I would like to build on everything I’ve done this year and hopefully we’ll reach 1000 followers by the next academic year!
