Hi! My name is Elise, and I am nominating myself for the role of Saturday Project Coordinator. I want to join the STAR committee because I am excited to work alongside fellow passionate advocates for refugees and asylum seekers. I have led the Saturday Conversation Club for the past year and have immensely enjoyed the lovely chats that develop while helping learners improve their English-speaking skills. During this time, I have enhanced my understanding of STAR's amazing work; volunteering for STAR is an excellent way to help support refugees and asylum seekers within the local community at such a critical time.

Having led the Saturday Conversation Club for the past year, I now better understand the challenges refugees and asylum seekers face when learning a new language. Furthermore, I have learned how to create effective and engaging topic sheets that meet the needs of the learners. I want to apply my enthusiasm and experience to the role of Saturday Project Coordinator to continue creating a welcoming and supportive learning environment for all our participants.
