Happy end of the 21/22 season Gryphs! I’m hoping that as head coach next year I can help build on the foundation from this year to keep the team developing over the next 12 months and beyond. I’m bringing to the table 20 years of hockey experience, competing at all levels from local to international. Over the last 7 years I’ve been a part of BUIHA hockey I’ve made many incredible friends and even more connections which as a club we can use to help grow the club, and the sport.

I’ve coached teams around our local area for over 10 years now and have really enjoyed my time at the gryphons so far. I’ve been working, living and studying in Cambridge from October 2021 and have still managed to make it to the majority of games. I’ve bench coached a number of games for each team over the course of the year including all 3 nationals weekends. For my efforts this year I’ve been nominated for the LUU Coach of the year. I’m looking forward to the prospect of being elected Head Coach as I’ll be living in Leeds from September this year and will be able to make the rest of the training and games!

One thing I’m looking forward to bringing into the club is a more clear pathway of player development through the introduction of individual progressions within drills. This is something that ties in well with another plan of mine which is to use connections I have in the hockey community to bring in more trained coaching staff. There will be the opportunity with this for players within the club who wish to develop their coaching skills to assist on these sessions and be a part of the development landscape alongside the other coaches and team captains.
