As someone who joined the club in my third year because I was looking for a more friendly and supportive club atmosphere, I know firsthand how much a genuinely welcoming environment can shape your whole experience in a sport.

Now, as one of the more mature members of the team 😅🤪 , I’m very much the person who’s up for a chat, up for a laugh, I am easy to talk to, and ready to support anyone who needs it. I want korf to feel like a big social, friendly society where people can find great friendships.

I am all about getting people talking and feeling included, so as Wellbeing Secretary I’d love to help create even more opportunities to fund for charity and connect with other societies. Including organising a multiple court charity match with Beckett during one of our Wednesday night sessions to get to know them better ahead of our end‑of‑year ball. This would contribute to the newly established Korfball Health and Wellbeing national foundation, in light of the fundraiser for Kim motive which as a society we missed out on contributing to this year. My goal as Wellbeing Secretary would be to keep our club supportive, fun, a welcoming space for every member, where people connect just as much off‑court as on it.

I’m excited to apply for the role of wellbeing and inclusion officer because I am dedicated to ensuring that Korfball remains a fun, supportive and safe space for all of its members. I have really loved being a part of Korfball for the past couple of years and much of that has been due to how welcoming the society is! As many of you will know, I have had this role for this academic year and I’ve really loved being there for others and making sure everyone has the best time they can so I would love the opportunity to continue to contribute to this positive environment.

One of the things I love most about Korfball is that everyone is included in the society - whether you’re a seasoned player, a complete beginner, a boy or a girl, a first year or a fourth year, on the first team or just there for the amazing socials, everyone is made to feel at home. I’m passionate about maintaining and building this sense of inclusivity and I would love to continue to play a part in ensuring that all members feel equally valued and supported.

I like to think of myself as an approachable person who provides a friendly face to everyone at korf and I’d love to continue to be someone members can turn to if they have any concerns - whether they are Korfball related or personal! I think that having someone who listens and offers support can sometimes make all the difference so I am always here to provide a friendly ear and help in any way I can.

Additionally, I’m keen to collaborate with other committee members to ensure that everyone’s voice is heard when decisions are made. I’d also love to help organize and promote more sober socials—like movie nights, game nights, mini-golf, and mental health walks—so that everyone feels included, particularly those who don’t often drink, like myself. I know how important it is to have events that cater to everyone’s interests and preferences.

I’m also committed to ensuring that newcomers to the society next year feel just as welcomed and supported as I did when I first joined. First impressions are important, and I want to help create an environment where everyone feels like they belong from day one.

Ultimately, my goal is to help Korfball continue to be a fun, engaging and safe space for all members—where everyone can feel included and supported, both on and off the court. Thank you for considering my application!
