Hi my name is Ben and I am a first year Ecology and conservation biology student and I am applying for vice president next year. I’ve been climbing since the start of my first year. I have enjoyed every aspect of the society and how the committee have helped me become a better climber. I would like the opportunity to help continue making the society great next year as well as introducing the sport and society to more people. By doing so I aim to pass on my enjoyment and passion on to new climbers next year. Thanks

Hi guys!
I’m Amelie, I’m a first year Biomed student and I’m applying to be Vice President for LUUMC next year. I started the year with some limited bouldering experience and had never done ropes before, but I quickly fell in love with the sport and became a passionate climber committed to this society.
I have experience with organising events, know my way around a good spreadsheet and have been involved with running club/societies in the past. I feel that this has given me a wide skill set and makes me a good candidate for a role with such varied responsibilities like Vice President. I have learned so much about climbing from the current committee and feel like I have found my people here at LUUMC, so I’d love to give back by taking on a role like this.
I’m most looking forward to welcoming the new climbers in September and to collaborate with the future social secs to run the social media accounts.

Hiya! This is Madeleine, and I'm going for Vice Pres this year.

It's a bit of a hodgepodge role, but for that reason I think I could really tailor what I do to what you guys want from the society as a whole. We've got a really cool community going on here, and I think the support and positivity from everyone is the reason for that. In that spirit, next year I'd make a real effort to build on the current cohesiveness of the society through a couple of avenues:

★ Getting new members climbing quicker.★
Teaching spots are limited, so spending some time at the start of Depot sessions checking in with newcomers to ensure they have people to climb with could get newbies more comfortable on the wall. Equally, I can refer experienced freshers to people who can climb at their level (hopefully, meaning that our pool of lead climbers grows sooner in the year!). I've had experience with both learning and (informally) teaching at my home gym. In that regard, I hope I could relate to any new faces enough to make them feel welcome, but also that I could act as someone to go to with problems or ideas.

★ Establishing a strong society identity.★
One of the more defined roles of the VP is to oversee the club's visual brand via the social media, logo comp, and society merchandise. I think it would be great to release merchandise earlier in the year so that we can all have cool t-shirts to represent and promote the society. As an art student, I'm pretty well-versed in both designing and making, but I'd love to hear from any hidden artists in our ranks too—if anyone wants to get involved in anything design-related, I'd be happy to facilitate it and perhaps team up with the Journal Rep. On the logistical side, I've been helping out with this year's t-shirts and know how long the process takes, and would factor that into the plan to get them out near the beginning of the year.
