Hi my names Sophie and I’ll be a third year diagnostic radiography student. A little bit more about me: I’m 20 years old, like studying anatomy and have been in leadership and team roles before with organisations like the British Heart Foundation and Street Angels. I love my course and the people on it. This area of healthcare is my passion and I want to celebrate it and learn more about it. I hope you’ll do this with me. I’m really passionate about bringing people together and creating a fun, supportive community across all year groups. This year as a Clinical Liaison between uni and placement sites, I’ve had experience communicating and speaking up in important meetings. I’m approachable, bubbly, organised, and my plan is to focus on helping people build their CVs through fun CPD sessions, networking, and opportunities that benefit everyone while still making uni enjoyable.

I am applying for this role as I possess the organisational capability, leadership experience, and professional judgement required to oversee the RadSoc committee effectively. I am confident in my ability to coordinate meetings, manage agendas, and ensure that decisions are made in a structured and transparent manner. I will take a proactive and methodical approach to supporting committee members, promoting clear communication, maintaining accountability, and fostering a collaborative team environment. I work well within a team and value the importance of collective input, ensuring that all members feel supported and are able to contribute meaningfully. I am also comfortable acting as the primary decision‑maker when necessary, drawing on balanced reasoning and consideration of all viewpoints. My reliability, professionalism, and ability to remain composed under pressure make me well‑suited to leading the committee and ensuring its objectives are achieved to a high standard.

I am a second-year diagnostic radiography student at the University of Leeds, and I’m keen to take on the role of President of RadSoc.

Radiography is a varied and evolving profession and I would like the opportunity to help develop RadSoc into a society that feels purposeful, well-organised and valuable for students across all year groups. Having experienced the demands of both academic study and clinical placement in leeds & Hull, I understand the importance of having a society that supports students in a practical way throughout their degree.

My focus would be on strengthening the link between university and practice by organising career talks, guest speakers and discussions that give clearer insight into the different areas of radiography and expectations on clinical placement. I would also aim to develop peer-support sessions, particularly around assessments and clinical placement preparation, where students can benefit from shared experience and advice.

In terms of what I bring, I am organised and I am comfortable taking responsibility. I also have strong leadership skills with experience in taking tasks and working effectively within a team to ensure things are delivered properly. I communicate well with others, approachable and I am confident in both leading and collaborating when needed. Importantly, I would work closely with other members of RadSoc to ensure everything runs smoothly and that responsibilities are shared effectively. Overall, I would aim to help create a society that is structured, supportive and engaging, whilst helping students feel more connected and confident throughout their time at university.
