Hello everyone, my name is Lucy and I’m excited to be applying for the role of education and teaching coordinator and to be a part of LUMPS committee.

My experience helping with the Cutting Edge 4th‑year mock OSCE taught me the organisation and detail that goes into running a larger scale event like this. I’d be keen to use the skills I have learnt to work with the pre-clinical and clinical rep to organise 3rd, 4th and 5th year mock OSCEs and teaching as part of the LUMPS committee and help these sessions to run smoothly.

Alongside MLA teaching and exam support, I think it would be useful to offer paediatrics‑focused career teaching outside of exam season. Aimed at older years, talks from different paediatric specialties and the variety paediatrics has to offer could help people explore potential career interests. I’d hope to involve paediatricians I have met through carrying out an audit at the LGI as well as collaborate with other societies for these sessions. For younger years, a “How to Be a Paediatrician” series covering training pathways, what the job involves, tips for F1 paeds jobs, and portfolio guidance could give members a good starting point, create excitement surrounding the specialty and give students goals to work towards.

I also think that, alongside collaborating with other societies, maintaining links with St George’s and the “Paeds National Teaching Series” for their events is important. Building more connections like these could be beneficial for both the committee and our members.

I’ve always had a passion for Paeds and working with young people, going into 5th year I would really like the opportunity to join the committee and work with the rest of the team!

My name is Sinai and I would love to be the education and teaching coordinator for LUMPS.

I have really enjoyed paediatrics this year - it’s a great speciality that I would love to pursue in the future !

From a teaching and education perspective, I would love to coordinate and lead teaching sessions for students that simplify really interesting paediatric medicine into knowledgable retainable information that can help u be a more sufficient future doctor that passes their exams well :)

My experience of teaching including leading PALS teaching sessions throughout medical school alongside outside of medical school to y8/y9 students for STEM subjects/tutoring.
