As we all do as members of Theatre Group, I love theatre. I am in my second year studying Theatre and Performance after doing 3 years for sixth form and a foundation year at The BRIT School doing the theatre course. I want to be an actor and have a career in theatre and film, my passion for theatre has been with me my whole and throughout my education and is a massive part of my day-to-day life. Theatre Group has been a major part of my university experience, allowing me to be a part of productions and nurture my love and passion for theatre as well as allowing me to make incredible friends and have so much fun at fundraisers and socials. I believe everyone should have fun socially at university and Theatre Group allows us, as people who have a love or interest in theatre, to have fun socially. Going out and having fun with like-minded people with similar interests is so rewarding and fun! My love for theatre and my love for going out and having a good time combined make me your perfect Social Secretary as I care deeply about both, and combining them for people to have the same great experiences I have had socially with Theatre Group. I am known to my friends by the nickname “social sec” as I plan every night out, we go on, as if we are a society! I also have experience in planning social events like Otley runs and parties as well as helping plan some events at the pub I work at back at home like DJ Nights. I am a very creative person who likes to think innovatively which would allow me to create engaging and memorable events for the society. I am also a committed, bubbly, and communicative person. I like to think I have a great ability to communicate effectively with others which would be crucial to working with other society members as well as promoting events to the wider student body. My main idea to enhance the social side of Theatre Group is to create weekly socials that I would plan to include all members of our society whether you are in or not in a current production, which vary for drinkers and non-drinkers. This includes events like club nights, pub socials, pub quizzes, theatre workshops, theatre trips, and games nights. I want everyone to feel included in our society and have the opportunity to have fun with other members of the society. I want the socials to be fun for everyone and for everyone to have a great time within our theatre community. If I was to be elected Social Secretary, I would honour your votes with commitment, creativity, enthusiasm, passion, and collaboration. So, I’ll plan the parties whilst you learn your lines!
