Having been born in the Philippines and migrated to London when I was 1 years old, my family played a significant role in embedding Filipino culture into my childhood. That's why I will always be thankful to them for helping me realise the importance of Filipino heritage and ideals. I feel it is my duty to help Filipinos and those from other backgrounds experience the beauty of our culture which is why I have decided to run for the role of FilSoc Vice President.

Since starting my studies here in Leeds, I have experienced immeasurable amounts of love, support and a strong sense of community from those at the Filipino Society. They made sure us anxious first years felt welcomed and safe while we were facing the stresses of starting a new life at university.

My aim as the potential vice-president of this society is to enhance the feeling of community displayed even further by helping the society grow as a family. I want to create spaces where members feel a strong sense of belonging and encourage a vibrant, energetic and light-hearted atmosphere.

I will work hard to support the President and other members of the committee with bringing everyone fun opportunities - whether that be fun socials, community events, and even collaborations with Filipino Societies from other universities. I want everyone to make lifelong friends, unforgettable memories and most importantly, HAVE FUN! Vote for me please! :)
