Hello, my name is Isabel, and would love to be this year’s media and publicity officer! Having had this position 22/23 and volunteered with Teddy Bear Hospital over two past year I have seen the impact each session has on the children, inspiring them to learn more about the body and showing that going to the doctors isn’t as ‘scary’ as it may seem. As media and publicity officer I would work closely with the members coordinator and fundraising officer to create social media posts not only to advertise the society to students from all University courses but to also engage potential funding sources, demonstrating what we as a society aim to achieve and the importance of what we do.

I am a very organised person, and I would aim to prepare weekly posts for the social media platforms advertising the visit for members and introducing a Wednesday summary of the school’s visit. The Wednesday summary would include pictures from the day of the volunteers at each station (if consent gained for images to be publicised) and a brief description of the session including any new stations introduced. I would propose creating a short promotional video with committee members explaining what the society is to be displayed on social media and during the fresher’s fayre, showing our friendly society.

Teddy Bear Picnic requires advertisement within local schools and children’s clubs, making engaging posters to engage both children and their parents to attend are vital in ensuring the event is a success and allow advertisement of new stations within the picnic based upon feedback from parents, children and teachers involved in all sessions over the course of the year.

Being very passionate about helping to teach young children about their health and how to look after themselves I want to help the society to gain as many more volunteers as possible with the same enthusiasm as myself.
