President

My name is Vir Chatrath, I am currently studying B.A International relations at the school of politics and international studies. It has always been my intension to have a positive impact on people wherever I find myself, be it through my interactions with them or through my hobbies that include reading, travelling, and playing cricket. I am vying for the office of president in Indian student association (ISA), the position is of utmost importance as it demands sincerity and responsibility.

Why vote for me?

I humbly believe that I have the requisite skills and abilities to function effectively as the president of Indian Student Association. During my school’s days I have served in a lot of different societies I believe that these experiences will help me in functioning effectively and efficiently as the president of ISA.

What do I seek to achieve if elected?

• Engaging and expanding the society with other societies.
• Supporting mental health awareness and providing people with personal helplines.
• To implement all pending projects embarked on by the outgoing administration that beneficial to all the students.
• Introducing more events that showcase India’s diversity such as hosting a food festival that exhibits culture and diversity.
• Regular sport event screenings with other societies.

Hello, my name is Yashvi Shah and I'm a 2nd year Computer Science with AI student at the University of Leeds. I am running for the role of President at ISA and here's why you should vote for me:
1) Being an Indian International student myself, I know the feeling of being away from home and wanting to socialize with people that make you feel like you're at home. ISA played a big role in my first year being in Leeds as I got to attend and enjoy my favorite festivals like Diwali and Holi. I am a huge Bollywood fan myself and the Bollywood Nights were always a go-to for me. By being a part of committee, I want to be able to make this society a platform to help new international students feel involved and help them enjoy new university experience while also provide community support.

2) I think I'm best suited for President because I'm organized, approachable, down-to-earth, outgoing and work best under pressure. I also have experience in organizing events from scratch including booking venues, contacting food sponsors, getting the best bollywood DJ's in the UK as well as promoting events through my role as social secretary for VIBES this year. I have also worked as Social Media Intern at the University of Leeds hence being able to recognize how to reach a larger audience of Indian International students at the university. I work great in a team and would be able to work with anyone and everyone in the committee while helping to lead the society with the chairperson and vice-president.

3) I am on good terms with some of the other societies like NHSF, VIBES and other dance societies which could be used in a positive sense to collaborate and organize even bigger events. I aim on having regular social events both small-scale and large-scale throughout both semesters including day trips, bowling and karaoke nights, bollywood nights, festival related events, game nights, movie nights and a lot of other exciting and adventurous events. I would love to make big things happen!
