My name is Bravin Vijayaakanthan, and I am eager to run for President of Leeds Tamil Society. Over the past year, it has been my privilege to lead our society, a period marked by groundbreaking achievements and robust community engagement. Under my leadership, we reached new heights with the highest attended club night in our history and successfully hosted the first-ever Tamil ball in the North East, "Mallipoo," an event that has set a new standard for cultural celebrations within our community.

Our success didn’t stop there; we also organised engaging events such as a Games Night and several social gatherings, each one fostering camaraderie and a sense of belonging among our members. These initiatives were not just events, but milestones that brought us together, honoring our heritage and creating a welcoming space for all.

As I seek to serve another term, my commitment remains unwavering. I will ensure that our society operates transparently and adheres to its constitution and the LUU Rules & Regulations. Collaborating closely with the executive committee, I plan to spearhead innovative activities and initiatives that resonate with our goals and further enrich our members' experience.

Furthermore, I will continue to represent our society to external stakeholders, including other student societies, university administration, and community partners, ensuring that we build strong relationships and a respected presence across the board.

Lastly, I promise to be a diligent advocate for all our members. Your needs and concerns are my priorities, and I am dedicated to ensuring that they are not only heard but addressed effectively.

My name is Meera Vijayakumaran and I am honoured to be running for the position of President of the Tamil Society. As a third year medic, I have great passion for celebrating and promoting our rich Tamil culture and heritage.
If elected, my vision is to create an inclusive, vibrant Tamil community that makes all students feel at home here in Leeds. For our freshers, I want to provide a warm welcome and help them transition seamlessly into university life while staying connected to their Tamil roots.

I bring valuable experience from previously serving on the committee and organising successful cultural events like the Pongal and Deepavali festivals. I have also helped organise a South Asian ball Mallipoo, showcasing my ability to plan and execute large-scale events. Building on this, I'm excited to collaborate with the committee to host a diverse range of programs - from chill Kollywood movie nights to charitable fundraisers. My goal is to showcase the beauty of Tamil traditions while fostering connections across cultures through joint events with other societies.

Above all, I will be a proactive and supportive leader who is always available to engage with members' needs and feedback. With your support, I am confident we can take the Tamil Society to new heights this year.
