Hi, my name’s Isla and I’m first year art and design student.

So far with backstage I’ve been in general crew for Urinetown, Twelfth Night and an assistant designer for The Little Mermaid.

I would love to be your Equipment and Training officer because:
- I have been in the set department for every show, so have used different construction tools (plus lots of glue guns) and found this a fun and engaging aspect of the process.
- My degree can be involve a lot of machinery so I’m used to learning my way around new and interesting tools and would love to organise training like this for other backstagers to develop the skills they’re interested in.
- I know how stressful it is to not have something you need so will be proficient in ordering equipment for all departments and managing repairs.
- I also love having lots of things to do and helping out where I can so will enjoy the busy aspect of the role.

I would like to be on committee because I’ve had an amazing time at backstage so far working on shows and meeting lovely people so would love to be more involved!

Hi, I’m Amy and I am running for Equipment and Training officer! Over the last two years, I have loved my time with Backstage, and I would love to continue contributing to the society. As a current committee member, I have a really good understanding of how the society runs, how we work with performance societies and with LUU.

Designing in a number of roles such as SetD, LD, DSM, HM has enabled me to develop my knowledge in a range of Backstage’s technical equipment. I think it would be beneficial to have a Set Designer in this role, as I am confident using power tools and know what consumables are most needed. Additionally, having worked as a Lighting Designer, I feel confident problem solving technical issues and teaching this to others. Through these experiences, I have also developed my organisation and communication skills which I believe will be useful when working with other societies.

As E&T officer, I will ensure that there will be multiple training workshops for each department for both designers and crew, and I will also run regular workshop and power tool training sessions. I want all members to grow their confidence working on our shows and gain valuable, technical skills.

I have learnt so much with Backstage and I want to pass on my knowledge to others!
