A bit about me…
I’m Chloe and I am currently in my second year of studying medicine and I would love to be the School Liaison Officer for Teddy Bears Hospital next year. I have loved being a part of the society this year and would really love to take a more active role. My interest in health started aged 7 with my ‘Look Inside your Body’ book and has grown and developed into my long-term goal. My other huge passion is teaching. TBH has allowed me to entwine these together and share my passion with children. I would have loved TBH as a child and I loved seeing the excitement it brings the children.
Why School Liaison Officer…
School Liaison Officer involves approaching schools and then helping plan and organise visits, working closely with the schools and other committee members. I am an extremely motivated, hard-working and organised individual. I live by planners and to do lists and can always be counted on to be on top of my email inbox. This would help me plan and organise events. I pride myself on having excellent communication skills, across a range of ages. I have been working since I was 14, including a daily paper round, waitress and volunteering at a Rainbows group. I thrive in a team but can also be counted on to work independently. I can be depended on to bring 110% to the role and balance my studies and personal commitments to allow us to deliver lots of sessions to lots of children.
What would I bring to the role…
One of my biggest struggles this year (as I imagine many of us experienced) was getting onto a TBH visit. As school liaison, I would aim to get us involved in even more schools to help educate and engage more children and provide more opportunities for society members. I would also approach Rainbows, Brownies, Cubs and Beavers groups. These meetings are commonly in the evenings so more accessible to TBH members (especially those on healthcare courses). I would also raise the idea to the committee of creating stations tailored to slightly older age groups to allow us to run more sessions and reach and educate more children.
