I’m a friendly and outgoing medical student that loves taking part in fundraising events and donor recruitment at Leeds Marrow. So far, I have really enjoyed the role of fundraising coordinator but wanted to have a bigger impact on the charity, so I would like to nominate myself for the treasurer role.
Being open minded and organised is really important for this role and I believe I demonstrate both qualities. I was part of the school prefect in both secondary school and sixth form, where my role was to ask students about their opinion on how the school curriculum should run and how we can improve lessons. Listening to opinions and raising them during meetings, as well as approving and disapproving ideas were important skills I have gained during my time as a prefect. Good judgement and open mindedness are needed as a treasurer to be able to approve expenses in the marrow account and I believe I have the skill sets for this task.
I have demonstrated great organisational skills when planning for the Marrow Valentine’s Day roses this year. By dividing the team into different roles, setting deadlines and doing promotion on social media, this event turned out to be a success. After this I became more confident in organising things which will be useful when doing tasks such as making products on engaged.
I believe I can contribute positively to this society and to further the impactful efforts of the charity!
