Hi! I'm Rebecca McGeehan, second-year Journalism student & I've been a part of LSR since I started Uni (almost) two years ago. I've loved being a presenter, host, and podcast producer - and I'd love to take on being part of committee next. I've been broadcasting on weekends all year and it's been the best. But there's always room for improvement - I want to make weekends at LSR better than ever.

Alongside the core shows, I want to curate a distinctive personality for the weekend programme. After a long week of lectures, I want to give people something to look forward to listening to. Sometimes people forget that LSR might be running past the uni week, so I want to promote our shows and encourage more students to tune in. I also want to encourage collabs between shows, as well as with outside groups, to give people more opportunities to get on air and spice up their programming. I'd also love to organise special guests to come on at the weekend!

For the presenters, I want to provide on-call technical help, since the office is usually empty on the weekends. It can be tricky to work the desk without anyone there to help, and I want to make sure presenters are confident with Zetta etc... when something goes wrong. I've had experiences where there hasn't been anyone on hand at the weekend, when I was still new to Zetta, and I think knowing I could reach out to someone for assistance or support would have been a great help.

I want to organise meetings/drop-in's where presenters can come to me if they have questions or worries about being on air or planning their shows. I also want to organise regular socials and events where the weekend team can come together to relax and get to know each other, giving them connections where they can turn to their peers as well as me.

I think weekends are the best time to be on air at LSR. People are chilling out after a long week, or amping themselves up to enjoy their time off, and I want to create a programme that reflects this and gives people something to look forward to!
