Hii everyone my name is Mrinalini Pretish often known as Millie and I’m running to be your Hindu Soc Events Rep.

I am currently a second-year Global Creative Industries student and my love and experience for hosting and managing events is reinforced by my course and its modules. It genuinely helped me shape my knowledge and understanding on how much intense work goes behind running an event, whether it be of a small or large scale.

Being an international student I truly believe in cultivating a ‘home away from home’ sense of comfort in a new city. Ensuring every member feels the warmth of a second family from their very first event with the society.

Hinduism for me has always been about having the faith and trust in a sense of community, embracing being there for one another through thick and thin and coming together as one. As silly as it sounds your culture and religion plays such an important role in shaping and reinforcing your identity especially within another country, therefore I am passionate to be a part of such a powerful and deep rooted society, host not just events that bring similar people together, but also further foster and enhance the wholesome feeling of family.

Hi, I’m Amirtha, and I’m running to be your Events Representative.
I want to create events that bring people together and build a community where everyone feels like they truly belong.
To me, this society is more than just a schedule of socials. It’s about finding your people, feeling included, and having something to look forward to every week. That’s why I’m passionate about organising events that are not only fun and exciting, but also welcoming and accessible to everyone regardless of faith, background, or level of involvement.
I want every single person to walk into an event feeling comfortable, valued, and included because no one should ever feel like an outsider.
I’ll work closely with the PR team to make sure our events are not only well-organized, but also well-promoted and full of energy. I’m also excited to collaborate with other LUU societies and Hindu societies of other universities to bring you bigger, better, and more memorable experiences.
Behind the scenes, I’ll make sure everything runs smoothly from planning ahead to handling all the details so you can focus on enjoying the moment.

Hi! I’m Nihita, a 1st year medical student, and I’m running to be your Events Co-ordinator.

Over the past year, our Hindu society has helped me stay connected to my culture and religion whilst living away from home. Regularly attending the events has shown me the importance of finding your people through this community and creating a place for both international and home students where everybody feels valued.

I hope to deliver events people look forward to by growing the society through stronger social media promotion, inclusivity and engagement. I have a range of ideas including:
Weekly interactive sessions: Yoga challenges, Rangoli nights, Hindu-themed murder mystery
Spiritual events: Weekly Aartis, Kirtans, Hinduism debates
Large-scale events: Diwali Ball, Bollywood dress-up night, ‘Fake Sangeet’ themed ball
Community initiatives: Continue with ‘Feeding the Homeless’
Collaborations: Work with societies like Vibes (e.g. Garba workshops) and other Indian societies (eg. cosy Maggi & movie nights)
Expansion: Connect with other universities to create bigger, memorable experiences
I also want to introduce Hindu Society ‘Families’ to help new members settle in easier, build supportive friendships and create a more connected society where you feel like you truly belong.

Whilst I understand event planning is demanding, I believe my organisational skills and commitment will allow me to deliver successfully.

What matters to me the most is elevating our Hindu Society into a well-rounded community that people are genuinely excited to be part of. I’d love the opportunity to organise energetic and meaningful events, shaped by what members truly want.
