Hi everyone, I’m Narayani, and I’m running to be your President of the National Hindu Students Forum Leeds.
As this year’s General Secretary, I’ve gained valuable insight into how the society runs and where we can improve. I’m standing to provide more structured, proactive leadership and build a better experience for all members. If elected, I will focus on:

1. Better planned and well-managed events
2. Clear and timely communication
3. Stronger social media presence
4. Regular member feedback
6. More engaging Sanskaar sessions
7. Monthly Seva Days to promote service
8. A supportive and well-organised committee environment

I also aim to strengthen collaboration with other societies, the mandir (temple) and external organisations to create more opportunities for connection and growth. My goal is to build a society that is organised, inclusive, and truly rewarding to be part of.

Hey guys! I’m applying for this role because I’d love to help it keep growing in a fun and positive way. I think there’s a lot we’re already doing well, and I’d like to build on that and also bring in some fresh ideas.

I’d have regular, chilled committee meetings so everyone knows what they’re doing and feels comfortable in their role. I want the committee to feel like a proper team where everyone’s supported and happy to get involved.

I also want to keep in touch with LUU, other societies, local Samaj/Mandirs, and NHSF UK, as this can help create more opportunities for us as a society and help plan more exciting events.

If anything needs covering, I’ll be more than happy to step in and am comfortable making final decisions when needed, but I’d always make sure everyone’s had a say first.

More than anything, I just want to be someone people feel they can come to easily, whether it’s for help, a chat, or sharing ideas. I’d always try to keep things friendly, open, and supportive.

Overall, I want to help create a society that’s organised, welcoming, and genuinely enjoyable to be part of.

Hi I’m Shubo, a third year medical student! This year, I didn’t just lead NHSF Leeds, I gave everything I had to rebuild it and turn it into a community people could genuinely call home.

When I took on this role, we were facing nearly £1,000 of debt. I knew we couldn’t move forward until that was sorted, so I focused on building relationships and fixing it. Through sponsorships with YPP and Bombay2Goa, I cleared that debt and put us back in a strong position. I’ve recently contacted them, and they’re happy to renew their support, bringing in £1,750 for the year ahead, with more already in progress.

But what mattered most to me was making sure people truly felt they belonged. I didn’t want this society to be something you just attend. I wanted it to be somewhere you walk into and feel seen, included and valued. That’s why I reintroduced Chai & Chill, creating a space where real friendships could form. This year hasn’t been easy, but I still made it a priority to be present, check in, and make sure no one felt invisible. Seeing friendships form, confidence grow, and knowing people felt part of something has meant everything to me.

This society is about connection, not just presence. That’s why the LUU elections meant so much to me. I supported and interviewed our members, giving them a platform to share their voices and chase their dreams. Seeing them step up made me incredibly proud. This is about lifting each other up and growing together.

Over the past three years, I’ve built strong connections across Leeds, with businesses ready to support us. We already offer 8 membership discounts, and I will expand this to at least 20, ensuring membership truly gives back. With our stronger position, I will make this society more accessible and inclusive. Lowering membership costs, more affordable events, and fun socials like Flip Out so no one feels left out is key. I will raise the standard of what we deliver, with a Diwali Ball and a Spring Ball we can all be proud of.

I care deeply about collaboration and giving back. Working with Sikh Society on homeless feeds showed me how powerful it is when communities come together. I’ve built strong friendships within NHSF and across other Hindu Societies, and I will strengthen those connections through more collaboration and shared events. Not just with South Asian societies, but across other faith and cultural societies too, like our Pancake Party.

Growing up in a single parent household taught me how important it is to find family in community and have people you can rely on. That’s why this society means so much to me. Our Hindu Society is truly a place for every member to belong, a family that’s always there for you, your home away from home!

I truly believe we’ve built something special this year, but to me, it’s not finished. It feels like we’ve only just begun. I know what this society needs, and I know how to deliver it.

This society means more to me than just a role. It’s something I’ve poured my heart into. I’m not finished here, and I want the chance to continue building something special with you.
