Hi everyone!

My name is Deena and I’m currently in my second year of Chemical Engineering. I served as the Events Secretary for WIE from January 2026 and have been actively joining WIE events since last year, so if you have seen me before, hello again!

I believe I would be a good fit for this role as I am an organised person and love planning (fun) things. I consider myself an outgoing person and I believe this quality of mine will help create an inclusive and welcoming space for the women in engineering (us!).

Other than that, I worked previously as an Events Director for a society where I organised events with ~60 participants, handled large amounts of funds and liaised with external parties. Given my past experience, I believe I can apply my management and teamwork skills to contribute to creating successful events.

Overall, I am inspired to contribute to WIE to help connect and celebrate the women in engineering and support events that will unlock our potential as an engineer.

I'm an upcoming final year Civil and Environmental Engineering student and this society has genuinely been one of the highlights of my time at uni. This year I've been involved in everything from Freshers Week and Halloween to our giag night and Women in STEM Day, and I've loved every second of it. I'd love to step up as VP, bring everything I've learned this year into a leadership role, and help make next year even better for our members.

Hey Women in Engineering! I am Janeeta, the ballerina who studies computers.

Fun fact before anything else - I recently won First Place in the UK’s largest Women in Computer Science student conference for an Arduino-based invention: an electronic bracelet for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, inspired by my little sister who has the syndrome.



Why am I a good fit for vice president?

In my first year of University alone, I have been involved in over 11 different societies. Besides reflecting my adaptability as a social butterfly, this means I have strong links with everyone on campus thus help with WiE promotion and collab events with other societies.

Leading a team is second nature to me. Throughout school, I would alternate among class officer roles of president, vice president, secretary, prefect, and monitor every year. I was head secretary in the student council.

I am a regular attendee of WiE events, from the monthly cafes, Black Sheep Coffee study sessions, movie nights, to workshops. I would be surprised if you have never seen my face.

Peers describe me as outgoing, intelligent, and having superb time management - how else am I doing ballet, debate, hikes, pilates, and a lot more on top of thriving in my social life and studying one of the heaviest degrees?

I have a strong professional engineering network. Before winning the Women in CS conference, I did a Tech internship at HSBC and was a delegate for a national aerospace conference held in London.



My ideas for Women in Engineering:
1. Adding remote activities so that engineers with less time on their hands can still feel part of the WiE community (e.g. online games and social platforms!)
2. Collaborative projects with each other to build our portfolios!
3. Out-of-the-box, active socials: think a pilates class, hike, mafia game night, or girls day out
4. Continue career-related workshops and invite figures in industry
5. Be a friendly and familiar face for society members
6. Support the president and everyone else on committee; be a glue for everyone!

My name is Mahashri, an upcoming 2nd year Electronics & Computer Engineering student, and I’m excited to run for Vice-President of Women in Engineering! 💜

Over the past year, WiE has given me so many meaningful connections, opportunities, and memories and now I’d love the chance to give back to the community that helped me grow.

A little about me + what I can bring to the role:
✨ Public Speaker at Women & Climate
I’ve spoken on platforms focused on women, leadership, and climate advocacy, which has strengthened my confidence in communication, outreach, and representing communities in professional spaces.

🌍 Core Team Member at Youth STEM 2030
As part of the core team, I’ve worked on organising and coordinating international STEM initiatives and summits with 400+ participants worldwide. Through this, I’ve developed strong teamwork, leadership, event management, and networking skills while collaborating with people from diverse backgrounds.

🚀 Founder of STEMinism
I founded a club named STEMinism with the goal of encouraging and empowering more women to pursue STEM fields. Leading this initiative taught me how to build inclusive spaces, manage projects creatively, and turn ideas into impactful events and discussions.

💡 Why me for VP?
• I already have experience leading large-scale initiatives and working with international teams, which means I can bring fresh ideas, strong organisation, and effective communication to the committee.
• I’m confident in my capability to represent WiE at events, collaborating with external organisations, and helping expand opportunities for members beyond the university.
• I want to help create bigger and more engaging socials, networking opportunities, workshops, and industry connections that genuinely benefit women in engineering.
• Most importantly, I want WiE to continue being a space where women in engineering can connect, grow, and feel empowered together 🫶
