Hey Freestyle! Im Harriet and I am running for Welfare Sec this year. Having been a dancer since I was 2 years old, I definitely understand the importance of mental wellbeing when it comes dance. For me, I have always struggled with my mental health and it can sometimes get in the way of things I enjoy. I would like to provide a safe space for other freestylers who are struggling and just want a chat, especially as I, for the most part, understand different struggles. I can also point them in the direction of resources/ professionals that have helped me and/or I think would be helpful for them. I would love to have more of an emphasis on freestyle families next year as I feel it would really help next years freshers feel more included in our family. I would also love to work with our social sec to organise some more sober socials such as bowling or going to the trampolining parks as I think that it would also be an amazing way for 'team building' without excluding those who may get anxious around a going out setting. In addition to this, I would work closely with our PR sec to raise more awareness on our social media about mental health which would also help make our members feel less alone with their issues. Overall, I dont claim to be a professional in anyway, but I hope I can be the friendly face in freestyle that anyone can turn to with any problem, without judgement.
