I believe I would be a great Social Media Sec due to my extensive experience of social media platforms, such as Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook, and what makes a post popular. I understand the importance of a team having a good social media presence for encouraging new players to join, building popularity for our team, and attracting sponsorships.
As a chronically online individual, I believe I am up to date on ongoing trends online, which I would hope to lean into to build awareness of our team, and have some fun with players! Furthermore, I am extremely responsive to messages, which would allow me to quickly respond to incoming messages from prospective players who are looking to join our team; as someone who used this method to join the team for the 24/25 season, I understand how crucial this is to the role.
I also have very good attendance to games, whether I am playing or not, which would allow me to make reliable, fun and interesting game and match updates in the lead-up to matches, during the game, and post-match updates on our social media platforms.
Social media is a fun way for our team to use our voice to build our team, and sports, popularity and I believe I would be very dedicated to making this happen reliably, interestingly and positively. Going into my third year on the team, I want to contribute in a more meaningful way to this amazing team. I believe my experience, running my club cricket team's Instagram and doing graphic design for a film Instagram account I made, has made me an ideal candidate for Social Media Secretary. Through this experience, I have developed my digital and graphic design skills, I recognise how to increase social media engagement and better understand how to apply my passions, like sports, into the content I produce.

Alongside posting pregame and game results, with Bo’s permission, I want to increase the output of the Instagram account to include training content, player interviews (see the Exeter Demons Instagram account), and more game-day photography. If possible, I also want to produce more video content to grow the team’s account given this form of content is increasingly prioritised by Instagram’s algorithm. I am open to suggestions from everyone for content and will always try to make your ideas a reality. Throughout the season, I promise consistent and high-quality content that matches our on-field performance.

I appreciate the role coming with a responsibility as an advocate for the club and would look forward to working with the recruitment secretary to keep potential players informed and maximise our recruitment. With the help of the rest of the committee, I want to build our team to become recognised on-campus and online as one of our Uni’s best sports societies and one of the best American Football teams in the country.

Ultimately, I want to continue Hawkins’ work this season to build an Instagram account that represents our unparalleled team identity, a catalogue of our season that we can all be proud of. I hope I get your vote as your next Social Media Sec!
