My name is Varun and I am excited to announce my candidacy for the position of Treasurer. As a second-year engineering student, I have been a member of this society since my first year, progressing from a beginner-intermediate player to joining the development team. My passion for volleyball has only grown, leading me to become a qualified referee and get more involved in the community. Now, I wish to take this commitment further by joining the committee and contributing in a meaningful way. Having been both a team player and a begintermediate, I believe I bring a unique perspective that will be very valuable in diversifying the committee. I have also had conversations with the current president and treasurer about the responsibilities of the role and how the role impacts the society, thus I am confident that I would be able to fulfil my duties.
If elected as Treasurer, my key priorities will be:
• Enhancing training quality by looking into hiring a qualified coach for beginner-intermediate sessions.
• Ensuring efficient allocation of funds so that all members get the most value from their membership.
• Building on this year’s progress to further improve beginner-intermediate sessions and opportunities.
As treasurer one of my main goals is to allow the begintermediate to have the opportunity to play more volleyball and also at a higher quality where they feel that they get good value from the membership. As someone who was a begintermediate last year I am very pleased to see that changes this year were made to give more court time and a better overall experience. I would like to continue this trend and the area I would like to improve on next would be quality of the sessions so that the members feel they are improving from the sessions. One of the ways I would look into would be having a qualified coach to oversee the sessions along with the HEVOs to get an extra pair of eyes on the players and also have the added technical coaching experience.
My experience in financial management and decision-making makes me a strong candidate for this role. I have:
• Conducted a financial analysis of a 7-figure startup during my summer internship, assessing investment potential. During this role, I demonstrated financial literacy by presenting my findings and calculations to investors and owners.
• Earned a Microsoft Excel Certification, demonstrating financial modelling and data analysis proficiency.
• Through my college debating team, I developed strong negotiation skills—an asset when handling sensitive financial matters like wages and membership pricing.
With my financial expertise, strategic mindset, and passion for this society, I am confident that I can manage our resources effectively and make impactful improvements that will benefit the society at all levels. I would love the opportunity to serve as your Treasurer, and I hope to earn your vote.

Hi everyone :) I’m Eloise, a second year physics/maths student who plays as a setter in women’s devs. I was the M2 manager this year so you may have seen me at one of our games or just anything to do with volleyball (the obsession is real)! I am going for treasurer because I want to help with the running of our society and I believe the best way I can do that is as treasurer (numbers are better than words, Sven, don’t you think that’s true?).
