Hii, I’m Aadya and I would love to be your treasurer for this society!

I feel passionate about dermatology because of the huge impact it has not only on a patients physical but also their mental health + self-confidence! Our skin is the body’s largest, most visible organ; it’s almost like a window into what’s going on inside. Many diseases such as lupus and vasculitis can first begin to show up on our skin and signs such as rashes, lesions, hair loss, etc. can be very visibly indicating that something is wrong inside the body. This makes the specialty very interesting + rewarding because of the additional difference you get to make on someone’s self-esteem!

As a treasurer I will make sure that the society is financially smart in organising events such as fundraisers. I believe that I’m reliable, organised and confident to be taking on this responsibility well.

Hi! My name is Aishah and I’m currently in my 4th year and I’m excited to apply for the role of Treasurer of DermSoc.

Initially being unsure about dermatology, my keen interest became apparent through clinical placements, after getting hands-on experience with biopsy procedures, as well as getting involved in cancer clinics.

A particular area of interest for me is addressing gaps in dermatology education, including the under representation of skin colour in teaching resources, and hope to support the society in promoting awareness and inclusivity in dermatology.

Last year as Treasurer of the University Lacrosse Team, I strengthened key skills where I learnt to manage budgets, tracked income and expenses using Excel, and helped plan numerous events including a charity raffle. This role strengthened my organisational skills and taught me how to track finances consistently using spreadsheets as well as work closely with other committee members. I am confident these skills are directly transferable to DermSoc and will enable me to manage society finances effectively.

I’d be really excited to contribute and support the committee and ensure the society runs smoothly for all members.

From networking opportunities to conferences, I’ll make sure we have the funds to bring you experiences that boost your CV and deepen your understanding of dermatology. With my organisational skills and experience in fundraising for various charities such as the British Heart Foundation and Great Ormond Street Hospital I feel that I would be able ensure that the funds are managed transparently, wisely and with fun in mind.
