Heyyy Freestyle!!

I’m Catherine, and I would love to be considered for the role of Treasurer in the 26/27 Committee. Before I came to Leeds, I danced for 10+ years, training in ISTD (ballet & modern) grades and danced competitively. However, I quit dancing when I was 17 because I began to hate it, and I just assumed I would never dance again. But joining Freestyle in my first year brought back my love for dance stronger than ever through weekly classes, socials and competitions, something I did not think was possible! Freestyle also let me meet some of my best friends at uni, since some of the greatest friendships are the ones we make through dance. I would absolutely love to be part of a committee that makes the experience of dancing at university fulfilling and most importantly FUN, especially for the freshers!

Firstly, I am very aware of the responsibilities I would be undertaking, thanks to our amazing treasurer this year (LY GLENNIE XOX) and I will maintain the level of excellence she set while in the role! I would love to be considered for Treasurer, as I am very organised by pre-planning my weeks and most importantly, keeping my finances in check (especially as a uni student who can’t say no to a pint, online shopping, or a sweet treat). If I became Treasurer, I would love to bring back the instalment plan for comp fees and also manage costume payments based on the number of dances an individual is in. I would also love to work with the next secretary and welfare to organise further fundraising to support freestyle. Not only this, but I promise to be ON IT when it comes to freestyles finances and to provide a supportive environment where people feel comfortable coming to me to discuss any money-related issues, especially around comp season. I’m committed to keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes while being open and transparent about budgets, whether I’m talking to committee members about  hotels, coaches, competitions or any freestyle members.

Freestyle has been one of the highlights of both my first and second year and I would love to be part of the committee that helps run this amazing society for returning freestylers and new freshers! Even though it may always look like idgaf I promise this is one thing I do feel passionately about and your money will be in the safest of hands!!!
