I would love to be your ‘Fundraising rep’ for the FoMSF society this year!

I have been raising awareness and funds for MSF for 3 years now through my previous role as President of my sixth form FoMSF society. I am familiar with the behind-the-scenes work and planning of events so am passionate to contribute further through a committee role. It would be a unique experience to collaborate with like-minded people and create a positive impact that extends globally.

Naturally, I aim to continue past fundraisers and events that have been successful such as: Give It A Go’s, fun runs, pub quizzes and of course the highlight of the year- ‘Beats Without Borders.’ Beyond this, we could maximise our outreach by initiating ‘MSF Monday’ monthly bake sales or stalls at different university locations ie. Worsley, Miall buildings and LUU foyer- this places fundraising at the heart of student life. Additionally, I would like to run more casual socials such as: ‘sip and draw’, ‘tote bag painting’, bowling and movie nights where members and committee can just chat and be creative- themes could even centre around healthcare.

My experience directly places me at the forefront to join the committee and hit the ground running. I was elected by my peers as the President of my sixth form’s FoMSF society, helping to develop my teamworking skills. We raised around £1000 through various fundraisers that involved collaborating with other societies to increase the scale of our events. I was also asked to deliver a presentation at the annual MSF conference of our efforts- from writing a published article to being in discussion with our local MP about healthcare policies. Therefore, I understand the challenges that come with arranging fundraisers and planning events but feel I am well-prepared to take on this role.
