Hi there, I'm Fleur!

I am your current Lead Technician at LSR! I won bronze for Oustanding Contribution at the Amplify Awards and last year was shortlisted for Best Newcomer at the SRAs.

What have I got?
Professional digital production experience as a Digital Media and Communication Assistant of the University.
Experience producing and presenting original and core radio shows.
Audio mastering skills in demo production and podcasting.
An exceptional command over radio hardware and software technology.
Connections across the both the production and presenting sides of radio.
...and a detirmined and friendly can-do attitude!

What Will I Do?
Introduce Weekly casual socials: (pub trips, paint ‘n’ sips, game nights...)
Wanna try out a new show? Using the OB kit I want to create a weekly open slot on the alternative stream to test new ideas!
Opportunities abound! By liasing with student radio alumni (Like Daryl Jenkins) I want to create further connections for work experience for all areas of the audio industry.
Nurture LSR talent through the creation of events for new DJs and artists and fundraising to keep industry events accessible (Like SRACon).
Support the continuation of LSR’s award-winning culture with an emphasis on diversity, inclusion and accessibility!
Support all elements of commitee as a reliable source of knowledge and friend that is always willing to lend a hand.

Hello gorgeous people of LSR! 🩷

If we haven’t met before, I’m Jess! I’m a 2nd Year Sustainable Fashion student, your current Head of Podcasting and I am running to be your 26/27 Deputy Station Manager!

I am LSR’s biggest cheerleader, having been present at almost every freshers/activities stall we’ve done, and have been an active member since my first year. I’ve been apart of the Breakfast, Music, Podcasting and Daytime teams as well as hosting my own show “Nanna’s Kitchen” this year and I have loved being apart of every single show!

I want to be Deputy Station Manager because LSR has given me so much in terms of improving my confidence, my public speaking skills as well as letting me meet some amazing people who I’m now lucky to call friends and I want to give back to the society. I like to think of myself as a friendly face in the office, and I love hearing about all of your exciting shows and keeping up with what’s going on in the station. I regularly try to sit in the station to hear as many shows as possible and seeing you all plan and schedule them all throughout the week!

As Deputy Station Manager, I would do the following:
⭐️ MAKE TECH LESS SCARY! A lot of people currently feel intimidated by the technical side of things, whether that be SoulSeek, Zetta or Adobe Audition. I want to help create a more positive atmosphere so LSR feels like a place you feel comfortable making mistakes! I want to do this by breaking down show planning into it’s simplest terms, removing complicated software and providing as much support from committee as possible to guide you every step of the way 🫶
⭐️ CONTINUE WELLBEING WEDNESDAYS! Amy Heeley (our queen and mother) has done an amazing job with Wellbeing Wednesdays and I want to continue that so members can come and chat to me about everything and anything. I’d also work to help the society achieve the SASHA accreditation which I helped launch through my work with SASHA so our executive committee members have active bystander training to make socials (including ones involving alcohol like the Otley or Media Ball) safer.
⭐️ CONNECT ACROSS LEEDS! I want to improve our outreach at Beckett, Trinity, Arts and Conservatoire. LUU is a student union for everyone, not just University of Leeds Students, and I want our members to reflect this. There are so many creative voices across Leeds who should be broadcasting on our airwaves. Get us at more freshers fairs, and support building a stronger and more collaborative student community!
⭐️ ACCESSIBILITY! I want to make our facilities more accessible to disabled and neurodivergent members, and want to work with the new Engagement Leaders elected in LeadLUU to find tangible ways to make this happen.
⭐️ IMPROVED CULTURE! As somebody who struggles with social anxiety herself, I know how intimidating attending socials or even showing up in the office can be, so I want to make our socials more regular, more low-stakes and encourage a friendly and good-natured culture within the station.

Joining LSR has genuinely changed my university experience massively, and I would want everyone to feel as welcomed and as supported as I have felt in LSR, especially this past year. If you want good vibes, honest opinions and overall someone who is going to put her whole heart into the role, I would love it if you voted for me 🫶
