Hi, my name is Liv and I'll be going into my second yr at Leeds in Sept!! I'm applying for the position of Welfare, Safety and Inclusion Officer because I'd love to get involved in the Art society, especially around the topic of mental health - as everyone has it! I'd love to help support members understand their emotions and express them through art, as well as ensuring that committee members are enjoying their role and not feeling burnt out, as well as ensuring the maintenance of diversity throughout the society and within events. :) I'd love to form collaborations with other societies to run events, such as the yoga society, LUU mind matters, and SSAFE and help put on wellbeing workshops, such as through pet therapy and drawing, walk and draws etc ! I'd also love to support the safety of our members by organising a 'walk home together' programme, where members are connected based on location in groups and aren't walking to and from events alone in the dark, making sure everyone feels safe at all times! As well as this, I'd love to help raise awareness around welfare through art, by running events that correlate with specific awareness weeks, and partnership with other societies (e.g., Mantality; LGBT+soc, Amnesty etc) (and how art can be used as an effective coping strategy or utilised as a mobility tool for inclusion, awareness and belonging!).
