Hi! I’m Sophie, your current events officer 24/25 and I’m running for secretary 25/26. Hopefully, you’ve seen me at one of the socials this year or hanging around the Riley.

Being on committee this year has allowed me to gain a well-rounded understanding of how Backstage Society is run along with how we function within the LUU. I love making organised documents and will make sure I am always on top of the admin!

I’ve PM-ed Panto and designed within a couple of shows, which has given me a greater idea of working within a team while delegating responsibilities to others. Through my many experiences on shows and going into what will be my 3rd year in Backstage, I feel confident in taking on this role and would love to help run the committee alongside what I’m sure will be a strong team.

As secretary, I would love to bridge the gap between committee and general members and increase transparency - particularly by encouraging general members to attend CTTE meetings if they’d like (they are always open)! We are all just theatre obsessed students. :)

Currently, I organise socials and will hopefully continue to do this alongside the incoming events officer with our exciting Backstage 30th Birthday Ball coming up later this year! So will help the incoming officer settle into their new role.

I adore backstage and am so excited to continue being involved. I have gained so many friends and experiences that have made my uni experience unforgettable! This is why I would love to commit more time and effort to Backstage as your secretary next year.
