Hi, I’m Amy and I am running for Safety and Welfare Officer 2025-2026! During my first year in Backstage I have loved getting to know all the incredible people involved in the society. It is so important to me that everyone feels welcome so I would love to help maintain Backstage’s positive and inclusive environment for all members!

I have recently designed my first show and I know that it can be stressful at times. I want to help ease the jump from general crew to designer by continuing to create a space for good communication so that people feel confident and comfortable when working on a show.

As current New Members Rep, I have a good understanding of how Backstage runs as a society. I am currently workshop and ladder trained and have lots of experience writing risk assessments as I have written multiple for my degree when organising art exhibitions.

As safety and welfare officer I would:

- Ensure more designer and PM welfare checks.
- Reorganise workshop with more labels and extra storage.
- Introduce relaxed performances.

When I started University I felt lost, however due to Backstage I was able to find an environment filled with joy and a community of lovely people. I am deeply passionate about the society, and love all I do here. I have made amazing memories within Backstage, with the highlight so far being my stellar experience as FOH manager on the fantastic ‘The Band’ where I had an absolutely brilliant time.

I feel prepared to help support committee in any way which I can, having previously been on the HR Society committee as well as ResLife committee, a previous SU role as well as previous experience as a Team Leader of Entertainment. I give my all to my work and I am strong in a team, and feel confident I could constantly raise and support the society’s Welfare and Safety needs. Within my HR degree I truly understand the value of welfare across an organisation and is an area I am highly passionate about.

I am highly organised and committed to maintaining a safe and supportive environment. I have had experiences managing risk assessments and ensuring that safety procedures are followed. I am highly adept at administrative tasks as well.
I feel that I can be an approachable, kind and friendly figure and would be suitable for the role.

I do wish to go above and beyond and will give all I can, as that is what the society deserves. I am thankful for all the joy it has given me, and I want to give all I can to it.
