Hey everyone, I’m Ellie and I’m so excited to be running for next years Competition Rep!!! Going into my third and, most likely, final year of Uni, there is no other role I would want to end my Freestyle journey with :(((. I joined Freestyle as a fresher and instantly knew it was the best decision I could’ve made. Growing up as a competitive cheerleader was definitely difficult at times, and being the captain of an undefeated team at a young age came with a lot of pressure, but joining Freestyle made me realise I was not ready to leave the competition world just yet! 🤍 Competition season is genuinely my favourite time of year and the build up is just as exciting as the comps themselves! I’ve absolutely loved being on committee this year and being able to help choreograph and prepare for comps behind the scenes, so to be comp rep would be a dream!! As treasurer this year I have had to be so organised with our expenses and knowing what needed to be done in advance with paying for costumes, coaches, hotels and choreographers, which is really important as comp rep when it comes to deciding our plans for the comp season and ensuring we get to compete where we want to! I know I have the organisation and preparation skills to do what is needed 😊 Not only this though, I am also a fully qualified IDTA dance teacher and teach at my home studio; this has given me so much experience choreographing and cleaning routines and leading classes, which will also be so helpful as Comp Rep. I know what it takes to prepare a team for competition! With my teaching experience, I would love to implement more technique classes in the build up to our competition season as each year the competition gets better and better, and I definitely want to keep up with that and get our teams to the strongest level we can be! We get stronger each year and I’m SO excited for the year ahead 3 My main goal for the next season is to enter as many categories as we can at competitions, along side our usual Contemporary, Jazz and Hiphop teams- my plan is to have these extra categories like lyrical, commercial, solos, duets etc being completely self choreographed by both committee and our members, which not only broadens us as a society at comps and allows more spaces on our teams, but is also such an achievement to have our own work put on a competition stage! I know we have the skills and drive to enter more than we do and I would love for us to be able to show that, no matter where we place!!! Lastly, I would love to hold a Christmas showcase to allow our members to create their own dance pieces and get them on stage, which would also really help as a fundraiser for our society! I already have so many ideas planned for our routines next year and I really hope I get to work with you all on those! Uni dance will ALWAYS have a special place in my heart and I’d love to share that with you one last time.

My name is Charlotte Langlois, I am going into my second year of studying Ba of Global Creative Industries. I am applying to become the Competition Representative of the Freestyle dance society, and here’s why: to begin with freestyle has become such an important part of my student life and i would love to join the society, additionally I’ve been actively involved in competitions multiple times, particularly in singing and dancing. I am passionate in organising events which is why i am studying a degreee related to this field. My ultimate career goal is to work as an event organiser to a tour manager, which aligns perfectly with the responsibilities of being a competition representative.
Drawing inspiration from observing Nicole’s work in this position, i feel confident in my ability to take on the responsibilities. Additionally i already gained experience by helping out my dance teacher in 2021 in organising competitions and assisting my high school music teacher with planning a concert at the Cadogan Hall.
Thanks to my organisational skills and well-equipped practical experience, i believe i am well-equipped to excel as a competition representative.
i am very excited to apply my skills and commitment to guaranteeing the success of future competitions.
