Hi, I'm Hannah and I am running for the role of 2024-2025 PR sec. I am a second year Business Management student and I joined Freestyle this year after taking 8 years out of dance. Ever since I joined Freestyle I have enjoyed every second with the society, by applying to PR sec I aim to support and give back to Freestyle whilst replicating and improving upon my own experience (which I cannot thank everyone in the society enough for).

As your PR sec I will be responsible for keeping up to date with the socials and all things media, I also specialise in capturing the silliest moments on a night out (which you'll be thankful for on a Thursday morning). I am great with communication and organisation which will allow me to keep you all up to date with hot Freestyle News. The role of PR sec appeals to me the most due to my future career prospects in digital and social media marketing, I feel that this opportunity could be a great stepping stone for me whilst working alongside some of the most amazing dancers and friends!

Hi everyone!

I’m Fi and I would love to be PR secretary for freestyle next year! I’m now in my second year, but joined freestyle as a fresher and have never looked back! Being welfare secretary this year has been the best experience and it has been so fulfilling giving back to our freestyle community. Freestyle has been such a massive and important part of my university experience and I would love to be PR secretary this year and take on more responsibility having a bigger role in running this amazing society. 3

There are several reasons why I believe I would be well-suited for the role as PR secretary. One is I am a very creative person; the prospect of creating a new instagram theme, as well as flyers and posters for the freshers stands and the showcase is very exciting to me. Additionally, I like to be very organised and systematic in my approach to things, which I think is vital to keep on top of the weekly posts and responses to any DMs and questions that we receive on instagram. My experience as welfare secretary this year has given me a comprehensive understanding of how the committee runs and the commitment that this role will require. I’ve had first hand experience running the freestyle twitter at Loughborough dance competition this year (I think I made a few funny ones) as well as helping Ellie make tik toks at competitions. This has further shown me what the role requires at competitions which I think I would successfully be able to manage.

I also have ideas that I want to bring to the role this year to enhance our social media. One of these is I want to make a structured post schedule that I would follow every week to make sure posts are always up on time. This will make sure new members are always up to date on class/socials/events. As well, I want to make more use of the freestyle tik tok (and finally put all my tik tok scrolling to use). I want to start posting videos of class there, as well as more funny tik toks at socials and competitions which I have plenty of ideas for. I think posting class videos will be really beneficial for those who come across our tik tok and might want to join. In regards to merch I want to continue the variety of items we have available as well some new items such as water bottles/starbucks style cups and phone cases.

Being welfare secretary this year has been such a rewarding experience and of course I will always remain a friendly face for everyone no matter what happens. I would absolutely love the opportunity to step into a bigger role in the committee next year, allowing me to put even more back into this society. Dance has been such an integral part of my university experience and I cannot imagine not being a part of this society. Seeing people join this year and love freestyle as much as me, the same way last year's committee made me love freestyle when I was a fresher, has made my heart so full. I would love to be back on committee again and have a bigger role in running freestyle.
