Being involved in a society filled with so much love has allowed me to make so many amazing memories as a first year student. Because of our amazing previous social secs, I feel I have learned enough to successfully organise next year’s social calendar.

The role of a social sec stands out to me, as there’s nothing better than a Freestyle night out. Poppy and I have already come up with a few social ideas, such as:
- Dress as the last person you got with
- Dynamic duos
- You are what you drink
- White lies
- I’m a celeb
- British icons

There are several reasons as to why I think I’d fit this role but the most important one has to be that realistically, I’ve realised that I’m here for a good time rather than a degree! I never miss a mischief and constantly hype people up for a fab night out. On top of this, I feel I’m an approachable person if anyone is every feeling down or upset.

Due to our love for Revs and Dry dock, I will make sure we can host as many socials as we want in return for a cheeky discount code. I’ll organise joint socials (have already made contacts with basketball, tennis, American football, and many more to come!)

Sober socials will also be organised around comp season and at the beginning of the year in order to get to know each other better. I think that when the time comes, we should all vote for what sober socials appeal to us the most :)

To sum up, let’s make next year the best year for this amazing society!

As a fresher, coming to uni is always super scary, however joining freestyle this year has made my first year amazing. When looking into the dance societies I immediately knew I wanted to join freestyle as it seemed so welcoming, and 7 months later I am so happy with my decision. I have made so many amazing memories this year, many of which occurring at socials - therefore I am running for social sec with the hopes of giving freshers next year the same experience i’ve had and also just to have a bit of fun!

Honestly, one reason I think I'm perfect for this role is because I love to go out. I’d say on an average week I go out 5 times (sorry mum), and I can proudly say I haven’t missed a single social this year! Alongside this, I’d like to think I’m pretty fun on a night out and also an approachable person, something I believe is important to make new freshers feel comfortable when they are going out with people they’ve never met.

After some amazing themes from our current social secs, Bella and I started to make a list of some new themes we think would be fun, these include:
- Dynamic duos
- Dress as the last person you got with
- White lies
- British icons
- I’m a celeb
We aim to make our socials exciting by involving lots of challenges and lots of facepaint for the freshers 😁. Our socials will continue to take place at our beloved revs and drydocks before entering the motherland that is mischief. Bella and I also both have houses we are willing to use for some more exciting socials. Furthermore, due to spending more of my time in clubs than lectures this year I have made many friends and gained many connections, so you know what this means… some fun joint socials 😉.

While I love a good drink, I think sober socials are so important to help create and build on friendships especially with new freshers joining. Sober socials will be hosted throughout the year with an opportunity for everyone to get involved, and when planning these we would like to take into account what you guys would like to do 😙. Bella and I would also love to look into tour, a super fun trip to wrap up all the crazy socials. Other important events will be the Christmas dinner and the freestyle finale, special events in the freestyle calendar which celebrate the freestyle family 🩵.

I have so much love for freestyle and am so thankful for the huge role it has played in my first year at uni, and would LOVE to be able to show my love next year and throw the best socials ever!!!
