Hi I’m Ben, a second-year Gryphon, and I am running for the Merch Sec position for the coming 2026/27 season.

I would love this position on committee as I have a strong passion for the team, and a desire to see our exposure in the wider range of university sports grown - something which I believe strongly can be done with personalised merch for all our members to wear, both on and off the field.

A key focus of mine as merch secretary, would be to build on our expression of identity through our merch. I would aim to do this is by offering more personalised merch options. For example the option for initials, or positional groups, to be added onto merch, allowing players to feel a stronger sense of ownership and pride in their merch. In addition I would actively seek more unique, and long desired, merch options (such as varsity jackets, or active-wear for training) which sets us apart from other societies, and rather makes us standout.

Furthermore, I would make it a strong priority to reduce the times it takes for orders to be made to when they are given to players. I would aim to do this by sending out expression-of-interest forms in order to gauge better demand for certain merch, and streamlining communication with suppliers. I would also enforce clearer payment deadlines, as currently people often find that merch which they paid for are getting delayed by months due to a couple people who are late in making payments.

Although I haven’t previously held a position on committee, I bring strong organisational skills, reliability and clear communication; all of such skills are essential for managing suppliers, orders, and payments effectively. I a a very proactive individual, which means I will ensure orders are handled both quickly, and professionally.

As merch secretary, I will build a recognisable identity, grow our team’s presence, and reduce waiting.
