Statement
I’m Charlie, I’m a first-year Gryphon studying film, and I’d like to nominate myself to be next year’s Social Media Secretary.
Why you should vote for me
• I’m experienced in graphic design
From doing freelance video editing work to editing my own photos, I’ve used most of the main editing software, from Photoshop to Canva. Subsequently, I have the necessary skillset to put out high-quality posts week in and week out.
• Have and will continue to do match day photography for the team
I’ve already spent two of our home games providing my photography services, the photos from which I’ve seen used all over — from our Instagram, players’ socials, and even some committee posters.
• Plenty of time to dedicate myself to the role
I’m willing to dedicate a great deal of my time to doing the best job possible (I do a “Mickey Mouse” degree, so I’m not very busy).
• Work rate
I’ve already demonstrated my turnaround time with the game day photos, even going as far as organising them by either name or jersey number. I aim to continue to bring this work rate into my designs and posts on the socials.
• Committed to the team
Despite never playing a snap, I’ve attended almost every match bar one and have only missed a couple of training sessions, purely for the love of the game. I’ve shown my dedication through earning my chain crew cap and pretending to play call on the freezing Newcastle sideline.
What I bring to the table
• Graphic of the Week EVERY WEEK
It’s my single mission to get the game day graphics I make featured on the illustrious Graphics of the Week as often as possible.
• Score updates throughout the game
To keep the Gryphons who have graduated or couldn’t attend the matches as up to date as possible, I want to post regular score updates on the Instagram story so those who aren’t in attendance don’t have to rely on messaging players.
• Media day
Hosting a media day at the start of the year lets me build a bank of images I can use throughout the year and also gives players a chance to get some decent photos kitted up to use personally.
• Pre-match roster, player spotlight, Gryphons of the Day (MVPs)
I think we can put more focus on our players by publishing a starting roster before each game, putting out spotlight posts on individuals, and including our MVPs in our post-match posts.

Hi guys!
I’ve decided to run for social media secretary as I know, better than anyone, how powerful of a tool social media is. I have achieved so much in my life through using social media to my advantage, so I would like to bring this experience to the Gryphons’ social media page/s (Gryphtok will come back 😉) and elevate our online presence so much to the point where people might just mistake us for a NFL team!

Proficient in graphic design, photo editing, video editing, photography and videography – check out my Instagram @jamesyazgi (shameless plug), there I have showcased some of these skills already.
Long time Gryphon – as I have already spent 3 years with the Gryphons (yes, I am counting my year aboard) I understand how the society works and operates and most importantly what it means to be a Gryphon so I will reflect this through my work.
Organised and reliable – demonstrated by the team meal I organised at Nylas this season, I am a good representative for the team, and I am able to communicate effectively with other people, teams and organisations (which is a big part of running the Instagram).
Good communication skills – as I have access to the account already, I see how many people reach out to the Instagram, whether its other teams, people wanting to join or other societies, so being able to respond to them in a timely and useful manner is something I understand and will be able to do.
Efficient – due to my skills, as stated earlier, are one of the only thing my (diagnosed lmao) severe ADHD lets me lock in on, I am able to make graphics, posts and updates with a quick turn around whilst not losing any potential quality.
Experience – as you would know if you follow me, I am very active on social media. I have also helped run other society Instagrams such as the Real Ale Society, where I have directed and edited (semi lol) viral videos to the point where I have been recognised multiple times as the guy from the real ale society TikToks. I have also made a hit documentary on the town where me and star safety Thomas Constantine went to school, where my directing, videography and editing skills are on full view so check it out on youtube @rasstizi (and listen to a set or two whilst you’re there).
I have played these games before – when I am telling you I know the power of social media, TRUST ME I KNOW, here are some things I have achieved through social media just to get my point across.
• I have done photography at paid brand events simply by reaching out to people and making valuable connections through social media.
• I have been in multiple music videos thanks to connections I made through social media.
• I DJed on the main floor of the biggest club in Jordan (yes Jordan has clubs), private events (or house parties as some people might call them hahahaha) and brand events through reaching out on social media.
• I have been able to work with people I could have only dreamed of working with a few years ago through social media.
• I have also simply met so many people who have become my close friends through being interested in the same things on social media whether it is DJing or photography/videography.
Anyways enough ego maxxing, hopefully you can understand now how powerful of a tool social media is now.
My plans for the Gryphons:
Make us even more of a standout team – what does any good team have? That’s right… great social media pages (and maybe players and coaches). I will make us a household name not only on the pitch but online by making not just great graphics (graphic of the week worthy graphics) but other forms of content, to increase engagement, which leads to my next point.
Increased engagement – this is so important. Increased engagement will not only help us not get rinsed by sportank every week but also it can help with recruitment (especially O line lol) and can also help attract attention from potential sponsors aswell, helping generate more revenue for the society (mark my words we will all be dripped out in F7s and backplates with lowers and pads that fit).
Types of content I will bring to achieve this:
• Gameday videography – I will get in touch with Leeds based videographers to come down to our games and video our games to catch those highlight moments more clearly rather than the crappy veo footage, these will be posted as reels and tiktoks and will help elevate our image and quite frankly make us look COLD AS F*CK (just imagine how cold the Matt Snell head tap edits would be if he was playing next year).
• Media days – I will get studio photos of players for the purpose of graphics to once again give our pages an elevated look.
• Gameday fit photos – This will be a one off most likely but in my first year we were told to wear our best fits pregame and we had professional photos taken like they do in the NFL, besides it being super fun, it was also great for the social media pages and makes us look like a professional team.
• Gryphtoks – no I am not talking about doing stupid dances, I will revive the gryphtok account and will make it a household name by posting cold asf edits of our game day videography videos and maybe the odd trend here and there (similar to how premier league tiktoks are ran).
• Add social media as a role to gameday crew – often our Instagram stories seem sparse and rather sporadic on a game day, through nominating someone prior, we will be able to have constant score updates throughout the game (and maybe catch some sideline view head taps too), this once again will elevate our look as a team.
