MunSec 2026

After much consideration, I’ve decided to run for Secretary this year. And not just to follow in Michael's footsteps to move from Gameday to Secretary. Here’s why I think I’m the best guy for the job!

Organisation
There were no issues with the organisation of any of our games this season, showing I can get ahead of problems before they happen and solve them when they arise.

Communication
Able to communicate with coaches, having to work with Christian on the roster sheet and jersey allocation all year.
Able to work well with other committee members. While most of you enjoyed your Saturday nights, Snell, the big 3, and I spent our time chasing lost jerseys, making sure we could get as many guys in full kit as possible.
I'd like to think I'm very approachable both in person, at practice or socials, and I’m always on my phone, so I respond quickly

Experience
Previous Committee Experience as Gameday Sec: Communicating with the union to organise buses. Sorting the pitch for gamedays and communicating with the West Park staff. Booking medics and most importantly searching for a chain crew!

Involvement in the Society
I missed 2 practices, 1 game and 0 socials all year. In addition to spending hours in the shed on Friday before practice with Michael and Snell.
Think it's fair to say that it shows quite a lot of commitment to society. Think this shows a high level of commitment that is needed to be a part of the Big 3.

Think all of this gives me a wide scope of our society. From a social aspect, on the practice and match field and behind the scenes on the committee.

Here are some ideas I have that I think can improve our society next season:

Bring back player-elected, defined positional captains. Voted for at the start of the year by the unit, they’re responsible for keeping on top of spond availability, practice attendance and general welfare. Giving rookies a guy to look up to for the playbook, and equipment issues.
Recruiting throughout the year, not just in Freshers’ Week.
More player input throughout the year, not just a coach survey at the end of the season. Give Rookies and non-committee returners a bigger voice.
Have a Media Day at the start of the year, no one wants to be the guy in the committee post in their old boys' suit (that was me!)

Hi, I’m Nathaniel, and I’m running for Secretary for my final year as a Gryphon.

After a year on committee, I’ve developed the organisation, initiative, and communication needed to help run this club at the high standard we expect. In my role as Sponsorship Sec, I’ve gained experience communicating professionally with external parties, which I’ll use to confidently liaise with the university – helping us secure funding and making sure the club meets all requirements to keep progressing. As seen by my role in helping to organise the team meal at Nyla’s, I will also be able to deliver great events throughout the year, and most importantly, the highly anticipated Old Boys Dinner.

I aim to build strong relationships with the rest of the committee and work closely with them to keep the club running smoothly, while continuing to show that we are the team to be a part of here at Leeds. My commitment to this club is something I’ve already shown – being at every training session, regardless of how many fingers I break – and that’s something I’ll bring to this role.

When it comes to big decisions, I’ll work closely with the President, Treasurer, and coaching team to make sure everything, from gamedays to finances, is organised and running properly. At the same time, I’m committed to ensuring we remain both competitive and social, so every member – rookie or returner – has a great experience.

As next year will be my final year as a Gryphon, I really want to give back to this team that has been such a big part of my life here in Leeds. This role is the perfect way for me to do that, bringing my energy, adaptability, and commitment to make it the best year possible and get back to the Prem!
