Right, enough of editing Kobe's poem and onto what really matters. In my last year at Leeds I would like to nominate myself for the honour of serving the club as President.

After playing American football for around eight years, playing u17, u19, Team North and GB, I have a lot of experience with the wider landscape surrounding British American Football and all the aspects that go into this. Further, having been on committee for the past two years as gameday Secretary in my 2nd year and Secretary to the wonderful Wansell as President this year, I have gained invaluable experience from this and have become familiar with not just the world of American Football, but also the nuances of leading a university sports club.

From my experience as gameday Secretary, I have attended meetings in the union and have become familiar with the general procedure involving fixtures and the competitive side of the club. In this role, I have had to be organised and proactive when ensuring a smooth gameday experience. Further, as Secretary, this has involved wider decision making and initiative, particularly in a season with a lot of change involving appointing new coaches. Throughout my time on committee I feel that I have gained all the necessary skills to lead this team into a successful year in Div 1.

As President, I aim to ensure we continue to be a team that extends further than our on field chemistry. Many of the bonds and friendships made from this team go beyond Weetwood practices and Sunday matchdays and these connections only help the team get better. From socials to charity events and by bringing in a great new group of Gryphons from recruitment and social media, I will work to ensure this team continues to be successful both on and off the field, while bringing the committee together to focus on a central goal, being united as a team and getting back to our winning ways.

My focus will be on strong organisation across the committee with clear communication between players, coaches and committee members, improving recruitment and retention and strengthening our squad from the start of the year to be competitive all season in Div 1. Throughout the year, I want the Gryphons to be a team people are proud to be part of, for both coaches and players, strengthening our relationship with the union and becoming a significant part of the Leeds Sport scene.

Being part of the Gryphons has been the best part of my time at Leeds and in my final year I would love the opportunity to give back to the club as much as I can, helping to leave the club in a strong position for the next generation of Gryphons.
