For the smooth function of the club it’s gear needs to be in a good shape and ready to go when it is needed. This is where you are needed. A good Tackle Officer will keep the gear in order, ropes and harnesses hung up in their place, and metal work serviced. They will check the gear on a regular basis, retire anything that has had its run, or maybe just replace the bobbins if it is a descender. The main job of the Tackle Officer is to allow people, stoked for caving, to go and do what they like best, without stress, and without getting into a mess. Always with safety, whether this is training at the Edge or caving in the Dales. This is what makes your role important!
Key responsibilities:
-    care and maintenance of all club equipment
-    regular gear checks ensuring it meets the safety requirements
-    maintain an up-to-date inventory
-    organise the purchase of new gear and maintain records of all purchases
