Hi, my name is Aadhi, a 19-year-old BSc Economics and Finance student at the University of Leeds. Growing up in Dubai, I developed a deep passion for sports, particularly football, where I had the experience of playing semi-professionally. I’ve also participated in track and various other sports, which have taught me the values of dedication, discipline, and teamwork- skills which are needed to bring to the role of Sports Representative at tsoc.

I’m excited about uniting Tamil students through our shared love for sports, creating a fun space where we can socialize, support one another, and build memories over the thrill of the game. As a team captain, I’ve learned that motivating a group can be as tricky as convincing Amma that you wanna skip dinner for a footy night with the boys. I’m eager to help cultivate a vibrant community and dynamic sports culture within the Tamil Society—complete with competitive games and lively socials!

Hi I’m Shaumy. I am a second year medical student and I am very eager to be part of the Tamil society.

I believe I am well suited to be the sports secretary as I have the enthusiasm and dedication entitled in the role. My experience of being a netball captain in my secondary school has equipped me with the ability to manage logistics, also creating enjoyable experiences for participants. I am well aware that different people have different sports abilities and therefore I will ensure events are suitable for all abilities and therefore ensure everyone gets to participate and find fulfilment in.

By liaising with other clubs and societies, I aim to achieve a sense of community through joint events making our activities more variable and collaborative. By integrating with other clubs, it would allow us as the Tamil society to host larger and more inclusive events that appeal to a wider range of interests and encourage broader participation. This would allow us to share ideas, create memorable experiences which are impactful for everyone involved. This approach will not only encourage connections between members, but fosters a welcoming and supportive environment for all.

I will ensure that the correct fundings are provided for the sports section and oversee the sports budget, with careful planning to optimise resources for maximum benefit for the society. I will also manage and maintain the sports equipment to ensure they are kept in top condition and are readily available.

If I am chosen to be sports secretary, I will ensure to mingle with other members of the committee easily and make sure the society is promoted well. Having such a strong passion to work in the team of the society, I hope you choose me for this position.
