Being welfare and charity secretary is a really meaningful role that is a combination of supporting the wellbeing of the society with creating opportunities to give back to the wider community. It’s a position that requires you to be approachable and understanding as you often become the first person people come to when they’re struggling or need someone to listen.

On the charity side, you organise events either within the society or in collaboration with other groups to raise money and awareness for important causes. These can range from big campaigns like Movember to fun joint events with other societies. 
The welfare side is just as important. You help create a safe, supportive environment where members feel comfortable reaching out. Getting to know people, being present, and building trust are key, because it makes it easier for others to open up when they need help.
