Hey guysss, we won’t lie to you all, we were both slightly nervous about running for Social Sec last year as flo was a beginner to volleyball and didn’t really know many people in the society and lily was on the thirds but was slightly worried about the time commitment; however, if you’re even slightly outgoing, enjoy getting to know people, and love a bit of chaos on a night out, you’ll be absolutely fine.

It is a lot of organising: themes, venues, tickets, group chats, last-minute panics, but I genuinely wouldn’t change it for anything. You need to be able to manage and control things but we will give you all the details and contacts that you need at handover so all there is really is to ensure is that you have free time to set these things up! We have made so many memories this year and met people we probably wouldn’t have otherwise; which has been an absolute joy getting to know all of you, it’s really been a highlight of our second years! Wednesdays are literally our favourite day of the week because of VB socials. 

If you want to shape your own socials and people’s uni memories, we couldn’t recommend it more. It’s busy, it’s sometimes stressful, but it’s so, so worth it. We couldn’t think of a position more rewarding than social sec as you always see your hard work come into fruition in such positive ways which is always an incredible feeling. You make so many connections and links to not only people but the actual clubs and pubs themselves which are great for getting your name out there! 
plus the black cards aren’t bad either ;) 

So excited to see who goes for it for next year plus lily is here next year so can always provide any advice if it’s needed!!!
