Hi there!

My name is Jenna, I am a second year studying International History and Politics and have been a part of LSR since September 2021. In such a short time I have formed a really close connection with LSR and everyone in it, appearing on Breakfast, Hometime, News of the Week and my own show, Chutzpah!

When it comes to Breakfast radio, there really is nothing better to wake you up with, whether it is through hosting or listening. I have been a part of some amazing teams for both Wednesday and Friday breakfast shows, creating new segments such as Wordle-races and agony aunt-style radio using Reddit.

My plans for Breakfast Radio:

1) Networking Help -

For so many of the members here at LSR, radio is not just a hobby but a potential career. A position on the 2023/24 committee will give me the opportunity to help my breakfast teams (and anyone else who wanted) with creating demos, CVs and getting in touch with the right people so that your radio career can begin before you graduate!

2) Extra Training -

Training for newcomers to LSR is always undertaken in September and January. If elected Head of Breakfast I would elevate this, offering supplemental training to anyone who wants to brush up mid-way through term and would make myself available to anyone who wants this session.

3) Engagement with the Breakfast Teams -

I will make sure I am available as often as possible for the Breakfast Team – whether that is to run ideas for segments, troubleshoot problems in the Studio or anything else. I am beginning a job right here on campus only two minutes away from the studio in July which means I will rarely be far if urgent help is needed, so never fear!


4) Socials -

I would absolutely love to arrange more socials – between Breakfast and LSR as a whole and especially joint socials with Hometime!

I am absolutely passionate about Radio and love love love hosting Breakfast and being a part of LSR – a vote for me would be a vote for a Head of Breakfast who does everything they can to make sure society members are comfortable and happy!

My name is James Arnold, and I’ll be running for LSR Head of Breakfast 2023/2024. The opportunity alone to be on the committee of the student radio excites me, as it's the perfect opportunity for me to show what I can not only bring to Breakfast, but to the committee and the Radio station itself. After only a year of LSR, I know that the radio industry is most certainly one that I want to work in post-University, and LSR has helped me realise this. I want to work in this role, and give more than 100% throughout the year, and continue the success of not just LSR breakfast, but also LSR on a national scale (of which it is already very successful). I was never an early bird, however waking up at 7:30 for a 9 am show once (or sometimes twice a week) has certainly changed that. Of all the shows I could’ve applied for at the start of the year, Breakfast stood out to me, purely because I thought the concept of it was perfect. The idea that 4 people have complete freedom to create conversation, whether that's in the form of discussion, games, or quizzes on air, excited me, and I immediately knew it was for me. The opportunity to run the breakfast team is simply one I couldn’t refuse and was already considering applying for it months before this process even began. I will reflect my passion for radio by trying my best to achieve the goals of the team and the radio station and believe that LSR has the potential to keep growing and become even better, and I'd love to be a part of that.
