KIERA FORD FOR DEPUTY STATION MANAGER

- A friendly face on committee.
Since joining LSR, my confidence has grown exponentially, partly thanks to the incredible pals I’ve made along the way, and as your deputy, I would ensure this opportunity is available for others. Those of you in LSR who already know me can count on me to continue our station’s incredible culture in partnership with our next station manager so everyone feels comfortable and confident on air and off.

- A girl who knows how to bring the vibes
The clue to what makes a society feel like a real community is in the name: socials! I love a party and I know many of you fellow radio punters do as well. Fulfilling the social sec part of this role is one I look forward to, I plan to hold at least 3 Otley runs across the year, themes already in the works you’ll have to vote me to find out (one involves my sexy self dressed as Sue Sylvester, a sight that is simply unmissable). I have attended many socials at LSR across my two-year run with the gang, and I have connections with fresh2death who host Full Fat, Mixtape, Better Days and more, so a night out is never far away when you have me to plan it. I’m also fully aware of when there’s a need to relax, so have no fear, I will continue Hollie Ross’ sober social legacy. Uni life can get tough and societies are a way to de-stress, so there will be times to chill, such as pottery painting, pet therapy and other ideas that I don’t want to spoil for you just yet.

- A huge helping hand
I pride myself on my ability to help other people; this is something I enjoy and something which is incredibly important to me. As an acting Welfare Rep, you can trust me if things get tough. Should you encounter any issues at LSR (which I doubt), or in general, I will do everything in my power to help, whether it’s simply listening over a coffee, or suggesting strategies to the rest of the committee to combat larger problems, I am somebody to lean on in times of need. I also want to stress the importance of the title ‘Deputy Station Manager’, and I know how much the Station Manager will have on their plate. All I want is for things at LSR to continue to run smoothly, so you can be assured that I will take on any responsibility necessary.

- Someone who lives and breathes LSR
As you may know, I intend to have a career in radio after graduation, so whilst LSR is a fun place for people to express themselves and try something new, for those of you who are interested in following a similar path, I have begun to gain some experience and knowledge in the field. Having attended the SRA Conference two years in a row and having made professional connections with people from the BBC and Absolute Radio, I feel I could advise anyone who wants to take the skills they’ve learned at LSR into life after uni.
