Hi there, my name’s Alizah Malik, and I’m running for Events Secretary for the Law Society Committee.

Since joining the law society, I have been impressed by the variety and vivacity with which the society operates. Be it career networking, a casual social, or a skills event, the society delivers everything with a great standard of quality. As events secretary, my principal duties include the highly anticipated and incredibly popular Law’s Got Talent, and the Law Ball. I would work to ensure both new and existing members are given the opportunity to enjoy their experience of the law society through these events (and more), and make the most of their time at university.

I believe my experiences in leadership and the various roles and responsibilities I have undertaken in my academic career have equipped me with the ability to handle this new role. I have worked individually, collaboratively, and in an administrative capacity to execute events, provide for the student body, and facilitate communication of information.

Overall, I am an approachable, responsible and dedicated personality who would do well in the position of events secretary. I aim to improve upon the Law Society events we all know and love and add more to that list. I am no stranger to student government, and believe that if given the opportunity, I would perform my duties in a manner suitable to the status of Europe’s largest student-run law chapter. My being a first-year only makes me more determined to ensure I live up to the expectations of a committee member, and I feel capable of sitting at that table.
