Hello! My name is Serena Anziano, and I am your candidate for Vice-President for Finances. This school year was my first year in the 2-year LLB programme. Since arriving at Leeds, the Law Society has provided me with many valuable experiences and countless opportunities to make new friends. I would be thrilled at a chance to help the Law Society continue to provide those experiences for members, and I know the best way I can do that is as your Vice President for Finances.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In May 2022, I graduated from McMaster University with Honours in Labour Studies and a minor in Commerce. As part of my minor, I completed multiple accounting courses and am very comfortable working with spreadsheets, financial statements, managing assets and assessing risks. I am confident I can leverage my accounting education to provide the best management of the Law Society’s budgets, profits, and assets. ---------------------------------------------------------During my first undergraduate career, I worked as an External Logistics Coordinator for my university’s yoga club. A key part of that role was securing partnerships with teachers and studios for workshops and events, and my skills from that role would be very well suited for maintaining good connections with the Law Society’s sponsors as well as building new relationships with sponsors for the Society. Additionally, I organized several classes and workshops for our members, and I am excited to use my event planning skills for Law Society events.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- One of the most valuable experiences I had during my undergrad was working at TD Canada Trust, one of the “Big Four” banks in Canada, for four years. My time at the bank provided me with extensive knowledge and skills that I know would be invaluable in the role of VP for Finance. I have years of experience working on a wide array of financial transactions, from simple day-to-day matters to million-dollar business transactions. I was also able to provide financial advice to so many different customers to assist them in achieving their financial goals, and I would certainly be able to transfer that knowledge to create a strong financial position for the Law Society.------------------------------------------------------------------- This school year, I was chosen to be a course representative for the first years in the 2-year LLB programme. Being in this position allowed me to connect with my peers and the faculty in order to facilitate an effective feedback system. This role, along with all my other experiences, have helped me develop very strong communication and collaboration skills. I thrive working on dynamic teams, and I appreciate any opportunity to take on new challenges. I am extremely goal-oriented, can work very well under pressure, and always meet deadlines. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Aside from my technical knowledge and personal skills, one more thing that bring to the table is a passion for being involved with my school; involved with my peers and building new relationships, and involved with a team that works to enhance our law school experiences. I plan on building a strong presence in the role of VP for Finances that is based on accountability, integrity, but most importantly, extensive consideration for the needs and preferences of you, the members of the Law Society! I will work my hardest to ensure that all finances are in order so that the Law Society can deliver the best experiences possible for all members. I would be thrilled at an opportunity to serve as your Vice-President for Finances!

Hi everyone, I’m Olivia (Liv) and I am running to be your Vice-President for Finances! I am an active member of our Law Society and love spending time with the Law Netball team and attending Law socials. With me as treasurer, I can vouch for the continuation of well-funded bar tabs at our socials! I have lots of financial experience that would suit this role. For example, as a financial secretary I paid a lot of invoices, wages, and completed multiple VAT returns and annual tax reports, thus I am very familiar with a financial spreadsheet! I am very organised, have good time management and close attention to detail. I would work hard to be a part of our committee’s executive in making decisions whilst assessing risks. In this role, I would like to facilitate more diversity and inclusion events too. I had lots of fun at the International Women’s Day brunch at Bills this week and would love to see a continuation of events like this to promote equal access for everyone going into the legal industry.
