Hi All,

I am Harvey, a second year (soon to be third) History student at Leeds looking to run for the position of Secretary. I have been in the society since it officially started up and doing events and have been avidly turning up every week since. I have grown quite attached, some would say addicted, to Magic and thoroughly enjoy getting to play it every week. I am a 'passionate' player to say the least but I do very much enjoy the company and the game and have sunk many many hours into it. I enjoy it mainly because of the creativity and the amount of cards as well as the extension of getting to see some friends and play with some like-minded people.

That being said I have spent the better half of the last year as Events Coordinator of DiceSoc, a society closely associated to MTGSoc as both are included under 'General Interest' and are 'GeekSocs' as well as the fact that there are crossovers of a few members. This experience has allowed me to experience a lot of what it takes to run a society, as well as the inner workings of the society. As well as this I have been able to meet a lot of the brilliant people that make up the membership of many of the GeekSocs. I believe this will help me in my potential job as Secretary as I have prior experience as well as a sufficiently screwed on head that I have managed to use to help along previously with societies. I am competant, aware and sufficiently interested in the society and as such I believe I am a great candidate for Secretary of MTGSoc.

If I am elected I will continue to help push MTGSoc forward through its first full year and help to create more fun and exciting events as well as get the next generation of University students engaged in the hobby, hopefully moving to join up and create a welcoming community for beginners and experienced players alike.
