As a third year medical student, psychiatry has been a fascinating aspect of medicine to both learn and practice in. I'm interested in specialising in forensic psychiatry and medical psychotherapy with particular sub interests in childhood trauma and spirituality.

I believe that this role as psychology rep will help me get started in my psychiatry career and to understand the role of psychology in the integral treatment of patients with psychiatric disorders.

As a second-year medical student with a longstanding passion for mental health, I'm eager to serve as your Psychology Representative on the Psyched committee. It's about time I put my addiction to hoarding psychology books to good use!

I would appreciate your vote because:

• My interest in the mind isn’t new. Back in high school, when tasked with writing a research project on a historic figure, I chose to dive into Pavlov’s work.

• Despite our busy schedules in medical school, I always find opportunities to learn more about mental health. Last summer, I attended the Oxford Trauma Conference, where I learned from and talked to some of the leading professionals in the field. I have also attended several webinars organised by the Royal College of Psychiatrists and the inspiring National Student Psychiatry Conference organised by Psyched.

• I'm particularly drawn to this role because I believe in the crucial collaboration between psychology and psychiatry. My recent experience shadowing psychiatrists has shown me firsthand that integrating these disciplines is essential for effective treatment. Occasionally, there can still be a bit of a divide among psychiatrists when asked about their views on working with psychologists. Fostering strong relationships between future psychiatrists and psychologists now is vital for future patient care, and I'm ready to help bridge that gap.

• I'm confident I can handle the Psychology Rep responsibilities. I’ll proactively liaise with the School of Psychology, encouraging their students to join Psyched's events, and help organise joint initiatives.

• I'm dedicated, approachable, and ready to fully commit to committee meetings and all Psyched events. I'd love to contribute to a society I genuinely admire.
