Hi my name is Amoun,

As a first-generation medical student who entered through an access program, I am passionate about breaking down barriers to medicine and ensuring others from underrepresented backgrounds see a place for themselves in this field.

My journey has given me a deep appreciation for the power of mentorship, visibility, and community support. As Community Outreach Officer for GPSociety, I hope to connect with aspiring medics from diverse backgrounds, share relatable pathways into medicine, and help foster an inclusive, empowering environment where everyone feels they belong.

Hello everyone, I'm Hrishita and I'm going into 3rd year medicine- I would love to nominate myself for this role as the Community Outreach Officer! I am very passionate about primary care and something that fascinates me the most about this field, is the strong sense of community that it offers, such as through the home visits that practitioners may carry out if a person is homebound and unable to attend a check-up in person.

I am a driven and approachable person, who would be ideal for this role, as I would like to be part of a diverse society with individuals who share the same passion for general practice. My aim would be to effectively engage with local healthcare services and promote the society's activities with the rest of the team whilst coordinating collaborations for events and sessions.

I understand the importance of inclusivity and diversity, thus I hope that everyone passionate about primary care has an accessible platform to voice their views, opinions and ideas to drive the community further. Interacting with professionals from the community would give students a deeper understanding about the various pathways to become a GP and highlight the diverse lifestyle of a career in primary care- which I have witnessed from my placements in GP. If possible, then in the future I would try and see if students would be able to attend home visits which would also be useful to see how community-based healthcare is practiced.

GP is a part of medicine which I find very interesting, the work in the community and reaching people whom are house bound and who would usually miss out on healthcare.

I am in the process of completing my elective in a GP in sheffield, each day is so different and I hope in this society I am able to further improve my knowledge and aid others also!
