Hi, I'm Naduni, a 4th year medic with a keen interest in general practice!
I have just completed an intercalated Bsc in Primary Care at Kings, during which I've gained valuable insight into general practice in all aspects; through a year-long placement at a GP, a primary-care focused research project and various other modules, all of which has deepened my understanding of the diverse and rewarding nature of this specialty.
I am passionate about promoting general practice, through organising teaching events and workshops to give medical students a real insight into the life of a GP, as well as supporting students through OSCE practice sessions.
I would also like to foster collaboration between Leeds GP soc and other Primary care societies, e.g. Kings to create a network of shared events and resources, to create wider opportunities, hopefully inspiring more students to consider GP as a future career.
I have past experience on the committee of Restart a Heart and Sri Lankan society, and would love the opportunity to contribute to this society to build a supportive community!

Hi I'm Hema I am a 3rd year medic and have been the event co-ordinator for GP soc for the last year.

I have really enjoyed getting involved with organising mock OSCEs and teaching sessions for 3rd and 4th years. As vice president I would be keen to continue to help in organising more teaching sessions, talks and workshops to help to get more students get involved in primary care.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my GP placement in third year and am working in a GP practice over the summer so I think I am in a great position to help to get more students interested and involved in the society.

Hi I’m Kate - I’m a 4th Year medic, and this will be my 3rd year on committee. I want to continue to be part of encouraging more people to consider GP as a specialty.

- Clinical rep for LOGSOC next year
- Very experienced in putting on events through being involved in Medsoc, LAMMPS and GPSoc.
- Experienced with liasing with MSRC for committee admin
- Experienced working with LUU through my other committee roles

Ideas for the society

- Already have contacts lined up from my GP placement who are willing to come to do talks/workshops
- I have committee roles in Psyched, LOGSOC and UGAS next year so a top priority is collaborating between societies to deliver sessions e.g. mental health and maternal health in a primary care setting.

Bonus bits

- Team player — ready to work closely with the rest of committee and give clear leadership
- I love medical education and have been tutoring throughout med school so am super keen to help with teaching sessions
- I will be done with 5th year by the time 4th year exam season starts so will have lots of free time to help deliver GP-focused revision sessions, MOSCEs etc.
- I think there’s loads of potential for GPSoc to grow this year and increase the number of members to match some of the other specialty societies!
