Hi!! My name is Alisha and I’m currently a 4th year who has a really strong interest in GP and their important role. I’ve built on this interest throughout my placements in the past 3 years by taking opportunities to hold my own patient clinics and hearing experiences of their healthcare journey, which I have enjoyed every part of being involved in and can’t wait to do further.

I’d love to be one of the GP soc reps for the later years to help keep everyone in the loop with all of GP soc’s events and opportunities through emails and messages. The last few years of Medicine are critical where we all start to lean towards specialities and begin to build our portfolios. I will ensure no one misses out on any opportunities that GP soc has to offer which may interest and help support them. As well as this, I’ll make sure to communicate frequently with the year to hear what they want from the society such as conference visits, relevant talks or specific teaching events that they think will be beneficial to their studies! I hope to be someone who can be a point of contact for any queries for the later years and provide any support needed.

I believe I have the skills necessary to ensure I am fit for the role with strong organisation and communication skills. I am also very reliable and approachable which should make it easier for anyone to come to me for any questions and concerns :)

Hi, I'm Naduni, a 4th year medic with a keen interest in general practice!
I have just completed an intercalated Bsc in Primary Care at Kings, during which I've gained valuable insight into general practice in all aspects; through a year-long placement, a primary-care focused research project and various other modules, which has deepened my understanding of the diverse and rewarding nature of this specialty.
I am passionate about promoting general practice, through organising teaching events and workshops to give medical students a real insight into the life of a GP, as well as supporting students through OSCE practice sessions.
I would also like to foster collaboration between Leeds GP soc and other Primary care societies, e.g. Kings to create a network of shared events and resources, to create wider opportunities, hopefully inspiring more students to consider GP as a future career.
I have past experience on the committee of Restart a Heart and Sri Lankan society, and would love the opportunity to contribute to this society to build a supportive community!

Hi everyone! I’m Trivena, a 4th year with a big interest for GP, something that grew after an inspiring placement I had in my 3rd year where I learnt how great the roles of GP can be. There, I made connections to help support building experience in GP and got the chance to build real relationships, especially with children and families which also ties to my interest in paediatrics, a strong sector of GP.

I’d love to be your Later Years Rep because I am looking forward to being connected with others interested in GP and be a reliable member you can trust to be on it with communication and organisation. For example, I’d keep everyone updated on emails and group chats with all the great upcoming events, talks and opportunities GP Soc has to offer, especially ones that help us explore GP or strengthen our portfolios, whatever specialty we’re considering. As your rep I’d be approachable, reliable, and would happily be the go to person for any questions or support for the later years!

I’d be proud to represent our year and help bring even more engagement to the society this year!

GP is a part of medicine which I find very interesting, the work in the community and reaching people whom are house bound and who would usually miss out on healthcare.

I am in the process of completing my elective in a GP in sheffield, each day is so different and I hope in this society I am able to further improve my knowledge and aid others also!
