I have loved being involved with Leeds Student Radio since October 2021. The community which LSR creates is one which I really admire and love to be involved in. I would absolutely love to be Head of Marketing at LSR, being a committee role is something which I have looked up to this past year. I would say that I’m an approachable person with a positive presence and will be a smiley face around the studio! I’m always up for a chat so please don’t hesitate to say hi!

This past year of broadcasting I have been involved in the News Bulletins with the News Team in first semester, Monday Hometime with lots of hilarious chats and a podcast created this January called ‘Miffed Off’ with three other lovely friends. I would say my favourite thing about LSR is just the general fun you have, no one takes themselves too seriously and it’s all such a laugh.
I know this isn’t necessarily part of the job description but I would aim to uphold these principles and the core values of LSR if voted into this position.

If voted Head of Marketing, I would maintain the connections previously created, ensuring that we keep healthy relationships with our major sponsorships and means of fundraising. I work well with people and this is a core aspect to this committee role. LSR is proudly sponsored by Spencer Properties, which is specifically targeted to students. Considering it is a local Leeds business targeted to students, I think this should be upheld with our other sponsorships and fundraising such as collaborations with Hyde Park Book Club, Rand Coffee and LS6 Cafe. Whilst maintaining the current business connections, I would also create new ones with a focus on local businesses in Leeds such as the shops in the Corn Exchange.

Moreover, being on top of matters regarding admin and emails, I am a very organised person and weirdly enjoy writing emails; so this role is brilliant for me! I’m also able to manage my time well as depicted through the range of other societies I’m in with LUU such as SMS and Homed.

Being in radio has been a highlight experience of first year and I cannot wait to continue with it throughout the whole of my University career!
